It happened to me twice. With two different carbs, actually.

it is, but the IDA is a all out race carb from its birth where the dco carbs came on production DD cars in italy.

however they make as large as a 55 dco while the largest FACTORY ida is a 48..
now wich one will make more power? im assuming on a bridgeport the 55, so the dco wins..

Correct, but a 48 IDA vs a 48 DCO.. seems like IDA is the winner. But is it really a notable difference?

The IDA shines for peak hp at high rpms. Even when Rotary Engineering was building/selling complete engine packages with carbs, the IDA produced 240 hp compared to the dual DCDs which put out 225 hp. The hp curves from the dyno sheets show the DCDs dropping at 7k rpm while the IDA was still climbing at 8k.

I think the only way a DCO would be able to keep up with an IDA above 7k rpms is with a lakecities manifold, but good luck finding one of those these days.

How does the Lake Cities manifold compare with the Atkins manifold?

Well I havent seen it, but I heard they just ripped off the laklecities design. I doubt it could be that terrible. It would suck to have a needle fail and get fuel all over the header instead of the engine. I had it happen to my Turbo FB twice... IDA FTW.

I miss that manifold. That OER carb and that mani were the best thing to have, I would think with the right carb on that manifold it would give a 48IDA on a bridge a run for the money.

There's a guy here in town that has a Lake Cities mani on his car. It's a pretty slick setup, though I haven't had a ride or driven it myself yet. Sounds great and is a really tidy setup.
