85 GSL worth?
Alright jokers, here's the deal.
Driving today i found a '85 gsl, pulled over, and asked if it was for sale. The dude said "sure, make me an offer". The car was impounded, had 180,000 miles, manual tranny, good interior, horrendous paint.
Here's the kicker, he said that it ran, but smoked alot, and perhaps needed new rings.
Is $300 low-balling him? I'm asking because i got my GSL for $300, but it was in much better condition (and 115,000 miles), however, the owners where too back-**** stoned to care.
I just need some assistance on whether or not this impulse buy is worth it. I probably won't go over $400.
And suggestions would be great
Thanks guys.

i would do it... for 300, that seems fair, exp if it was impounded, you dont know why do you?
just start talking technical to let him know you know more then him about these cars, and then he will go down. try for 200. lol

No pics yet, i'll take some if i buy it.
I'll maybe be able to talk him down if he's selling it as a salvage title. I don't know much about the deal, but i'm meeting up with him tomorrow.

Allright guys, its been a month, i bit the bullet and bought it.
This is my second FB... Its seen better days, but for 300 dollars I can't ask for much more. In the current state, it doesn't want to run unless fuel is pured directly into the carb... So a rebuild is in store for the carb (unless the fuel pump is the issue). The back rotor has a face that lost a decent amount of compression, and i hope a seal is just a little sticky, instead of broken. We will see though. The tranny is fine. The body is iffy (**** brown nonetheless). Hell, it even came with 300zx floor mats.

If it runs well, i plan on a re-paint. re speed coilovers, and perhaps some illuminas if money allows. I don't care too much for a full on restoration, and i'd love to have something that could be a daily/autox monster.
So you say the brown interior is kinda uncommon?
