I decided the standard issue rx-7 club decal didn't really fit in with the car since the V8 swap. Whats a V8FB guy to do when he still chooses to waste his time on rx7club.com instead of norotors.com? There are three decals available from polak graphics for rx7.com, the standard rotor which is what I had, the turbo rotor which doesn't apply, and the plain rx7club decal which, well, just looked plain. So I decided to remove the rotor part of the decal and replace it with something that better reflected the car and my forum preference. Behold!

^Nice stickers.

I got the powerpulse fixed up and installed on "Icy".

Tomorrow probably fuel line and finish up any other stuff under her. Then oil cooler, rad etc.

Got about halfway through reasembling the carb. Trying something this time that will either be a tremendous success or a complete failure - - I dosed up the gasket between the throttle body and the main body with Hi-Tack, in a bid to eliminate persistent leakage of fuel into places it should not be... like around the base of the main center stud.

Ever since the carb kits switched to the 'fluffy' gasket material for that junction, I've seen this problem. Back when they used the hard, thin gaskets it never occurred.

So, we'll see how it goes.

The GP Sorensen kit that I bought still uses the paper thin gaskets. What rebuild kit are you using Glen?

It's a Sorensen kit, from Autozone. This gasket was notably thinner than the last couple (also from Sorensen kits) but still 'paper' (fiber, felt?) in construction, & thicker than the older ones I recall.

Kit also came missing one of the sight glass bezel gaskets, and with round o-rings for the sight glasses instead of the flat-cut ones previously provided. Seems to be some inconsistency over time in their kits.

At least it still came with all metal crush washers, instead of fiber.

Carb is assembled far enough to do leak/float level testing:

I hit upon the idea tonight that it's a lot easier to see the rear sight glass, open the bowls & make adjustments if I dont put all the linkage trash on it until after my levels are verified. This way, all I've got is the center stud, cover screws , & fuel lines to remove to get at the floats.

I felt smart.

Of course, now they'll be perfect on the first try, and I'll have to take it off & finish assembly.

The Universe does not like me. But I'm used to it.

I hear that.

I got just got that GP Sorenson kit for my 84 12a. It had the papery gasket, not that thicker, felt, "make your own gasket" kind of material. Maybe it is inconsistent... I need another one to rebuild the carb on my car now. We'll see.

Got the wheels on and put the *** end on the ground and torqued the nuts. Will be getting a new lug tomorrow along with some coolant and I'm waiting for my fan mounting ties to show up then it'll be on it's way to RE-Speed.

when i work on a BMW i feel that way. My lady friend says its something about being nice to it, and she may have something. i like to pet and say nice things to the Triumph, and it's returned the favor, by being totally reliable. however the three times my brother has driven it, it's eaten the distributor rotor, run out of gas, and a wheel fell off, that's 3 for 3!

If I'm any nicer to the Beastie, I'll need to take up bigamy.

Worked straight thru from 5 pm to now (10:40) but the carb is in, floats set, no flood on fuel pressure, bowl levels are righteous.

I anticipate initial start up tomorrow evening, folloed by brief tuning and then I'll start into pulling the tank out. Or something like that.

Turned out ok.

Icy has a new heart.

Wow, that is really bright!

New RB SS front mount bar. I got this to see if it was any good, and whether to recommend it to others. The answer is yes to both!

Hockey pucks.

Very nice Jeff.

Filled her up with coolant. Will obviously have to bleed the system, but at least now I won't lay awake thinking of rust forming in my coolant passages. Got the replacement lug nut on. Still waiting on the fan mounts so the front is still in the air. Spent 3 hours with a bottle of Simple Green, paper towel and a tooth brush scrubbing away at the engine bay. I still think there's too much crap in there so I'm going to have to find a way to start pulling stuff out to make cleaning easier. Some spots I just can't get to. Sadly it still looks kind of bad since it's getting to a point that it desperately needs to be pulled apart and shaved/tucked/resprayed. Hoping to find a new place with a garage so I can get started on that this winter or next. I'm thinking next since I'll have to save up quite a bit and buy a welder plus other body work materials and tools. Aside from the exhaust I'm pretty much finished with mechanical upgrades. I've noticed two rust holes on the frame just at the back of the front jacking plates as well as the usual inner fender rust and the hole where the idler arm was mounted. I've got bubbling paint on the drivers door and the frame rails in the engine bay by the rad are pretty rough. I don't like all that one bit. It would be fine if she was being rat rodded but that's not why I bought this one. Now it's time to turn her into eye candy.

You know, the origins of the phrase "shaved and tucked" are probably pretty disturbing.

Spent last night trying to coax a start out of her... Plenty of spin but no light-off.

Suggestions & sympathy welcomed in my Build thread. I'll take up the sword again when I get home tonight.

Thanks everyone! Seems it was a good color choice!

Gotta run a new fuel line from pump to reg today. Then throw an intake on and test fire today or tomorrow.
