their 8" derale fans, its all i can fit without moving the radiator or relocating suspension components. This engine makes about 550 hp on the motor, quite a bit more then a stock rotary.

(Which explains why replacement bolts from McMaster-Carr or other industrial houses often have larger heads than the ones you are replacing - - they are normally ANSI/ISO rather than JIS bolts!)
Thanks!

I had the pleasure of removing the clutch master today...always a good time. I figured I'd get it out the way while I wait for the new one to arrive from rock auto.

Got all my rotor seals LUBED, fitted, in place and clearances re-verified.

Ath this point, based on how the oil seals went in & look versus my memory/pictues of last time, I'm virtually certain my plate damage was caused by unlubricated o-rings leading to seals that didn't seat down properly.

Took my tail light apart and cleaned the dirt between the cover and light lenses. Ehhh. I really need a new light, but it's more clean anyway.

Also set the front toe after tightening the wheel bearings which were loose from the last replacement by some PO.

We all live and learn!

But.... If it were easy everyone would be doing it, and.... there would be less satisfaction in the finished product.

Day before yesterday I finished putting my transmission together and was putting the tools away when I found the baggy containing one little washer/spacer that I left out. Since I am not mentally able to ignore it I had to take that sumbitch back apart, I'm still kicking myself!!!!!!

True dat... but you'd think by my 4th rodeo I'd not do something that obvious.

I blame it on being tired & rushing; I worked through til near midnight on that assembly, trying to make that smog deadline.

I went ahead and filed PNO for the car, so now I have time to work carefully. It'll make for more DMV headaches at the far end, but got to keep the priorities straight.

Don't feel bad, lots of us are that way, thin line between determined and just a bit too determined, Hell, I know one guy that just about killed himself just trying to get ready for a car show, can you believe that?

I just finished up doing the Mazdatrix screw-in lug stud conversion, topped off with some muteki sr35 lug nuts. Lots and lots of loctite. My rims will be here tomorrow, and I sure don't want them flying off! Too bad I am almost dead last on the UPS route.. my day off will be spent at the door looking for that damn brown truck!

Gotta admit, I was sweating that first rotation after what happened last time, but all seems good thus far. Thanks for the encouragement.

Won't know for sure until she's fired up the first time, but I'm feeling the confidence returning.

Since my u-joints are 34-35 years old and I am about to swap trannys I ordered one of Mazdatrix's aftermarket driveshafts. (rebuildable u-joints). Was hoping to get a lightweight aluminum version, but alas it was not available.

I got mine running.

The carb was half off because I thought I wanted to do a rebuild, water pump off due to leaking and needing a replacement, no coolant, with the interior half out.

Took 10 solid hours but I got it done. I got the carb back on, rats nest removed, rebuilt slave cylinder installed, new soft fuel lines, coolant added, GMB aluminum water pump added, new belts, and some other stuff I'm forgetting.

Pretty successful day, hopefully get her out and tuned up so I can start driving her [please oh please rotary gods, I am begging you].

Will be getting my baby home tomorrow to do some carb tuning and get her out on the road!!! Extremely excited for that, been waiting since November...

Thanks DD, many many congratulations to you in getting your engine back together! I've been checking daily to see your progress and I'm happy that you got it working the right way. I have no where near the experience as far as tearing into my rotary yet... but someday I will get around to it
