If I were you I would be cleaning frantically, polishing metal, fixing interior. There's a lot you can do to move things along, that don't cost a lot of $$. Also planning is a good thing to do, plan your steps so when you do get a hold of some cash you know just what to do. Plus it feels good to accomplish goals.

Like everyone said before me: you dont need much money, just a game plan and some time. My 79 was down for 2 years. In the time it was MIA I re-did the interior, learned how to do body work and re worked my engine bay.
My fiancee helped alot and still helps me on my FB. She takes a notepad ask me what I want to do with the car. We make a list and cross items off as they get done. 8 years and 3 RX7's later she is constantly asking "When are we working on the car again?" Just be patient and keep at it bro.

I guess i need to get it in my head that this is going to be a project that is going to take some time. Once i get this in my head i will be better off. It stinks opening my shed and seeing my new motor i just bought and waiting forever to put it in. I thought my son would want to get involved but that was a mistake. Its all me on this one.

About the only thing that stops me from getting rid of the car is how much fun it was to drive and how much I enjoyed that car.
I want my RX7 back... Soon...
PS- Sitting in the car and pretending your racing with noises and fake shifting makes me feel better sometimes.

That's a shame your son isn't interested, I remember I was 15 when I first laid eyes on the RX7 and from that moment on I was hooked to it. 6 years later and I wrecked the one I started out with and am STILL in the process of putting it back together on another chassis. Its been almost 2 years now of being without my sports car and it makes me sad every time I think about it. The damn thing is parked next door under a car cover and everyday I vow to finish her and every day something comes up, be it money, time, effort, sanity, ect.

Wisdom that comes from age and experience. Thanks Glen! In humor are simple truths.
I just printed your post in a separate letter form document, put it in an envelope addressed to my 9-year old son, then put in my letters-to-my-son box that I intend to give him in the years ahead in event I'm not around to serve as his mentor.
(Hoping my first gen RX-7's become his of course and he keeps them rolling.)
