reminds you of a much simpler time doesn't it? here's my first car. its a 63 Ford Falcon. it has a 170 I6 and a 3spd manual on the column. shortly before his death, my grandfather gave me the car. i was 16 and the brand new car i was promised upon graduation from high school ended up being the Falcon. i wouldn't trade the car for anyting in the world. since then the car has had a total restoration. it's driven to car shows and on evening cruises in the summer and garaged and covered in the winter. the odometer reads just under 100K.

My father has that exact Plymouth Superbird in the first pic. Same color and everything.

This is his car...

Wow, those're some nice cars.

MazdaVerx - What is that third pedal (on the far left) in the Falcon for? Since it's an automatic, can't be the clutch, obviously. It's not for the parking brake is it?

The pedal on the left kicks in the afterburner, a real popular option back in the 60s that was outlawed along with freewheeling transmissions.

I need to do some research on those roadrunners, I thought they were very rare and extremely valuable. It's weird to see two of them that look to be identical. Unless they are the same car?

Here's one, they want $195,000 for it:

That first pic, is that the same mountain/rock formation from close encounters of the third kind?

yes, the pedal on the far left is in fact a clutch pedal. as stated, the vehicle is equipped with a column shifter. the trans is a three speed manual and is called the 2.77 trans. non synchronized, no hydraulic clutch, no power brakes, and no power steering. the car is a ball to drive!!!

Wrong. It's the afterburner. Common on late sixties cars.

In my defense, all column shifter cars I have encountered were AUTOMATICS, thank you.

And, if you go back and read my post again, I said "Since it's an automatic, can't be the clutch". Anyone else would obviously gather from what I've said that I've never seen a manual with a shifter on the steering column.

It is ok. I used to own a Ford Ranchero w/ a 302 and a 3 spd, I took it into the tire shop and the guy asked me how I got my automatic into gear. I asked him for the keys back and I drove it into the garage.

Here's a 65 Ranchero with a four on the floor that showed up at the last OGTA meeting:

I could drive that.
