Squealing And of Power

Where my FB detectives at?!

84 GSL LSP Differential

Issue 1 - Squealling/Squeaking: There is a stuck pig squealing in the rear, under the spare - best I can figure.

The squealing happens intermittently, and may last for a few minutes, then stops

Sometimes first thing in the morning, after cold start warm up, I drive and I can hear the squeal for 5 or 10 min. then it stops.

Today I heard it, and I had been driving for two hours. But didn't hear it after the cold start this mornng.

Issue 2 - Loss of power: I can drive her for hours and everything is fine. Then, all of a sudden she doesn't respond to the accelerator.

My foot is through the firewall and she doesn't
respond at all. My leaning in to the accelerator causes her to hitch a sputter, as if she is running out of gas (the tank is full).

She never stalls but she shimmies and shakes when this happen; I drop to a lower gear and creep her off the highway. I stop, turn her off. I wait 10 min. She fires right up and idles at 800 without issue, and off we go - just to have it happ

She operates better in low slow gears. Gears four/five at speed driving on or off a highway seems to be where the issue is; She'llbe driving just fine then all off A sudden...herk , jerk

What are the details with your fuel system? Issue #2 sounds like you have a fuel flow rate/delivery problem. How is your pump/filter/tank?

Is issue #1 changing with vehicle speed, engine RPM, or does it make the sound when stopped/idiling?

Thanks for for reply.

Last year I replaced the OEM fuel filter underneath and added a see through near the carb (so I can gauge flow and see if there is sediment). Both seem to be fine.

I have not replaced the fuel pump and I don't know its age.

Somone suggested it might be the clutch losing contact and thats causing the loss of torque from the engine at speed.🤷🏾‍♂️

As for the squealing, its a relatively new sound - maybe the last three months or so. It does NOT occur during idle (whether the car is cold or warm). It seems to only occur why the car is moving.

I've had a differential mech look at if for a few. They put her on jack, shimmied and spun the rear wheels. They didn't hear anything, they said it had been leaking in the past and topped of the diff by squeezing some fluid in, that did not stop the noise.

Also check the "Check and Out" valve. it vents to fresh air.
