That's not the worst thing. You could have went outside and found that your CAR was gone. Actually getting inside a first gen isnt that hard. Then you can take the hatch lock out. Take it to a locksmith and have a key made off it. It sucks, but not the end of the world.

i did something similar just the other night.
went out for some drinks, left my 7 at my buddy's house,
shenanigans ensued thru the evening, not really sure what went on after we left the third bar.

woke up on my ex-girlfriends couch.
(her boyfriend wasn't too pleased when he got home from work at 7 AM)

long story short, got back to my car, unlocked the door, sat down fumbled with my keys for a minute before i realized that the ignition key was not on my ring.
where it went i don't know. never did find it.
had to get a ride to my sister's house to get my spare.

on a side note, were rx7s originally one key cars, and i have had the ignition lock replaced?

Well, not to give away my secrets (or tell everyone how to break into a 7), but I accidently locked my keys in my SA one time. Coat hanger and 2 minutes later, had my keys back.

happened to me too, (drinking was involved too) I just stuck a flat blade screwdriver in the hatch lock and turned it. Opened right up. scary huh

Take your vin and title to the dealer and they can cut you a key. I had to do it on my jeep. Now I have so many spares I dont know with is the orignal lol

For God's sake, don't ever leave your title in the car unless you really want to make it easy for someone to get away with an easy theft!

I've been able to open my rear hatch and side passenger door with ease/not breaking it with a small set of scissors

I had to bust the ignition on the track car. Now it just needs a screwdriver to start it. Still locks though

The one time I had to break into my car was because I locked the keys in it after getting home from work. I had to use the metal strip in my rear wiper to jimmy the lock open. It took 45 minutes because the wiper strip is so thin and flimsy. But I got it.

Did you call the bar you were at to see if someone turned the keys in???

I will never tell me secret way in... but anyone who looks at a wiring diagram, can figure it out.

I purposely lock my keys in my FB just about everyday when it's warming up and I'm inside. I keep my spares in my wallet which I always have on me

I just pull the key out of the ignition and lock the doors. It actually sometimes falls out on its own during hard cornering.

Yeah, old-school Mazda keys are pretty universal. I sometimes accidentally unlock my FB with my REPU's key.

well guys i got great news.... after talking to the club..(which i used work at) they didnt find anything... then an hour or so later after i had given up all hope in finding the keys. ones of the security guys called me... giving me the description of MY KEYS IN HIS HAND!!!!! i was sooo happy that i went up to the bar to the keys, took off the spare, put it in my pocket zipped my keys in my jacket and proceeded to get wasted in pure bliss that i had the keys to the love of my life once again!!!!!
on another note... i think roxanne was mad that i carlessly lost her keys... and i would not start this morning... at al! so i had to drive to work in the beater..
