I was curious to ee hat people thought about the different coilover set ups out there.
Re-speed (weld) vs Re-Speed (non-weld) vs Ground control
Re-Speed rear coiloverish set up?

Whats your opinion?
Any experiences (good or bad) with any of them?

I drove a car with the Re-Speed welded setup. Glorious. I also know Billy, the owner of Re-Speed and I have to say he is one of the nicest guys you'll meet. He back up his product, supports his customers, and he is happy to hear what you have to say about his products, so he can improve them. You can't go wrong with a Re-speed product. The only real difference between the welded and non welded setups (that I am aware of) is the level of adjust-ability.

I went with the weld in's, I wanted more than 250lbs in the front for
my track days. Took maybe 10 minutes to weld and are AWESOME!
I had ST springs on the car before which worked great for day to day
driving, but the coilovers are a huge difference!

I also agree with the above, Billy is a fantastic person and this company
is quite stand up! I honestly go to ReSpeed before RB

I have the weld on version, and absolutely love it. The handling is unbelievable.
There are a few forum members that have driven my car at autocrosses, and it
seems pretty unanimous.

If you want to come up for a race May 8th/9th, I'll let you take her for a spin and
see for yourself (see thread in Non-tech section for details).

And, recently while I was down in North Carolina for DGRRX, I took forum member
Duffman for a ride through the Tail of the Dragon. I'll send him a PM and see if I
can get him to give his thoughts on it.

Oh yeah, and Billy, you will never meet a nicer guy. He spent nearly all day Saturday during the event helping dj55b tear his rear end apart and replace the ring and pinion when he broke down. And he is a forum member, and he works with us on our wants and needs. You won't find that from Ground Control, Racing Beat, etc. He is the man responsible for my current setup, held my hand all the way and gave me exactly what I was looking for. You can't go wrong dealing with Respeed.

Anybody using the respeed rear coil kit?
if so what do you think? is the adjustability worth the price or should i just go with normal springs?

Kentetsu is also using the rear kit. I've driven his car a couple times at races and it's a blast. It's shocking how much better it was than my Racing Beat springs and Tokico HP dampers. I'm currently overhauling everything with almost all the RE-Speed parts. If your going to upgrade just go to RE-Speed and you won't regret it.

I have seen them, but have not used them.

Jim Susko from G-Force actually attended a race in Detroit last year. I'm going to have to
watch the entries and if I see his name, I'm going to sign up and drive over there.

Even though I'm sure he would be on race rubber, I'd love to see how close I can get to matching his times.

I bought Ground control coilovers w/ 350# eibach springs and GC camber plates over 8 years ago. There easy to adjust and have had no problems with either one of them. btw I use the car for 3-5 trackdays a year and over 20 auto-x's a year, half the time I also have a co-driver so the durabilty is there in my opinion.

what about the bolt on respeed kit? im not really a welder and would prefer them if they are good enough. im not really a racer but wouldnt mind getting into some autocross. mainly i just want the adjustability so i can set my ride height so it will sit where i want it to. the 1 inch drop springs arent enough for me and id like to be able to dump it low for shows and stuff. also how far can u lower the car with the bolton fronnt kit and the rear "coilover" kit

I asked re-speed about the rears, they say that it with drop it till its about 3 inches off the ground in the rear, so quit a bit

jesus.. ok thats prolly a little bit much. i just wanna tuck the tires a little bit lol. so the fronts go pretty low too? if so im gonna order these soon

Can anyone comment on differences between Suspension Techniques and Racing Beat springs for non coilover?

RB are about $50.00 cheaper.

As far as the welding goes, I don't weld either. All I did was cut off the stock perches, position the new perch and hold it there with tape, drop off at welder on the way to work, pick up after work, pay $20.00 Piece of cake, really.

A lot of guys saw my car at DGRR, and can attest that I run very low ride height. I would be surprised if there was anyone there running lower. And, I've still got gobs of room if I ever went insane and wanted it even lower. lol.

I have Ground Control camber plates and coilovers along with the G-Force Tri-link setup and I have had no issues with them. I also had them on my previous Miata.

That being said, I have more Re-speed products than I would care to admit (pretty much the rest of the catalogue) and Billy has always shown great customer service--to the point of finding and shipping me free parts in order to make something work. Truely a stand up guy selling great products.

Most people here use the Re-speed coilovers, so I don't think you'll get many votes for the GC units. However they are really popular with the Miata crowd and I'd guess that they are very high quality, its just that most people haven't used them.

yes i know coilovers are adjustable.. im not a moron. i just didnt know how low they would go seeing how i havent seen many first gens that are dumped and tucking the wheels into the fenders. my main concern was whether the boltons had close to the same adjustablility as having the weldon kit
