Rusty rotor housing

So my housing is pretty rusty is there a good way to clean it up?

Looks like rust transfer from the corresponding iron. You may be able to use some red scotchbrite and gently clean the area. Is there any pitting in the housing from the oxidation?

I’m not sure what you mean by pitting but if you mean like stuck no it’s just a thin layer of rust

pitting is tiny little holes in the metal.
