Can an intermediate housing be machined?

When my engine threw an apex it ruined the rotor and rotor housing. When I cleaned up the intermediate housing I found this gouge on the int. housing facing the bad rotor. I know the picture is hard to see the depth but while not too deep it is not something that will come out with some emory paper.

My question is whether the int. housing can be machined? or is junk?

Thanks Jim

The surface can be lapped, but the question is, do you want to do that? The rotor, with the side seals on it, measure out to a specific with. If you lap the surface, the rotor may not fit good enough in between the intermediate and front housing.
