Bottom line: An engine is as reliable as it's owner: past, present and future. There really isn't any better way to put it. I personally think 12As are the most reliable of the Rotary class but it still depends on mods, treatment, who/how it was rebuilt IF it's been rebuilt, climate etc.

every engine type has its quirks, rotaries are no exception.
-keep fresh oil in her (rotaries are _designed_ to burn oil, so keeping an eye on consumption is part of The Deal)
-change religiously every 3K mi
-keep coolant fresh and topped
= good to go
Other than designed-oil-consumption, really just like any motor. Folks here who claim some impressive miles (upwards 200k) on engines. have about 90K on my original engine myself.
