Rear hatch struts
Hey to all
In locating new Rear hatch struts I see all the listings saying... available for hatch with out the wiper. My question is are these struts from Red Dragon or whom ever capable of supporting the hatch with the wiper? Seeing I can't find one that says with the wiper.
I ask here because of the three places I called, they had no answer to my question.
I'm picking my new to me 84 RX7 up on Sunday, and just trying to get the small amount of parts I need straightened out.
Thanks
Paul

The reason they mention the wiper is because the wiring to drive the wiper runs down inside one of the struts. I don't think its a weight issue. I'm sure the struts can hold the wiper and the glass up. You'd just have to figure out how to route the wiper wiring neatly.

Just one new one on the left is all you need to hold up the glass. The one on the right can be weak. You can't find new ones with wires anymore and I doubt you could swap them over because there are some connection rings that stay with the strut and are not swappable.
So new on the left, old with wires on the right.

struts
Very good.....I'll have it at my house tomorrow and will start digging into the car to see what ticks. It's in VERY good shape, needing not much of anything except my wants.I have all winter in my new heated garage to get to know it.
Thanks

I like the Strong Arm brand. Part # 4709. Local Advance Auto ordered them for me last time. I think they're $20-25 each. If you searched you probably found it has been recommended here many times. I've been able to replace both although just replacing the driver (left) side has worked also. You have to cut the shaft to get the end off of the stock passenger (right) side. Once the end is off the two collars slide off. The Strong Arm units have ends that unscrew. Remove the end and slide the collars on the new shaft. Mine works perfectly, but the wires are hanging in the open because the Strong Arm does not come with a plastic sleeve. I suppose pictures are in order. I'll be back.
