These where made by a mate of mine that works in a machineshop so he made them in the spare hours. I think the will be pretty pricy if you have to pay for the entire thing

BBS E50's. How big? as big as you can fit under the front wells and clear the suspension and brakes. the e50 styling is so classic and the function of magnesium centers cant be beat.

I was working on my truck this weekend and rolled that bad boy up into the garage and it happened to rest near there, so I positioned it in the wheel arch and thought - wow, that would make some redneck happy! Haven't seen a sand rail made from one of these, but that looked pretty funny to me...

Not to worry - no special ops needed. The 79 former rust-bucket will be restored to it's former glory!

Hi friends,

Looking to get rid of these POS Diamond racing wheels. Soo heavy unbalanced and poor painting with these. They make the car feel very planted and look rad however.
They are just too heavy for me. 15x8 & x15x10 rear. Thinking of going 15x7 and 15x9.

Would like RS watanabe's but they are not in my budget. I have not seen a good looking replica yet.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

I haven't had a chance to mount these yet.

They're a set of 4 chrome wire WeldWheel Unilugs with 4 x 110mm mounting washers to fit the 1st gen RX-7's.

All in excellent condition and they're fitted with an original set of stock BFG RWL 185/13 radials, also in terrific condition:

So many pictures of the same wheels, seems you want to sell them, cause they are to heavy for the lightweight built Rx7.😉

Those Weld Wheel Chrome Wire Spokes deserve more than one picture per wheel Mr. Spirit, I'll post more if you like.

After all, the Welds are totally Cool. Period correct. More beautiful than Trump's latest wife.

Rare as a Liberal in Georgia. And Hot Hot Hot !

And the BFG, RWL's are to die for, probably the last set left on the planet.

Which is what this post is looking for, Rare and Hottest Wheels for a 1st Gen,.

Not dime a dozen Want A Be RS 8 Panasport imitations.

For goodness sake, if you like the look, get yourself the real thing, a nice set of 15" Panasports::

(These aren't for sale, but everything has it's price)

Minilite wheels were the first to have the sporty 8 spoke design.

This is true. According to my quick search just then, the first Minilites were made for the Austin Mini in 1961. Even though Watanabe probably popularised the style in Japan with the RS 8, it was not their original design and they were not released until 1968 (see https://jdmlegends.com/blogs/jdm-blo...at-jdm-legends ).

If you want smaller period-correct, aftermarket wheels, I don't think the 8 spoke banana style are a good choice and, personally, I don't think they suit 1st gens. They are better suited to late 60s, early 70s Japanese cars. Datsun 240Z, Mazda RX-3, early Toyota Celica etc.

Mesh style wheels are more period-correct (if that's what you're after). BBS RS came out in 1983 - in fact there's an magazine ad from their release where they are shown on a series 3 RX-7. SSR Formula Mesh and some of the other Japanese early 80s Enkei etc are also a good choice period wise.

If you want light performance wheels, Panasports do seem good from that perspective.

So if BBS Mesh Wheels are best, then the BBS wheels that came stock on the 83 LE must be the Best of the Best.

Here's the set that came on my LE, after I reconditioned them:

The wheels look so clean. Did you wonder how it might look if the lips were polished?
