rarest and hottest wheels for 1st gen
Im sitting on RB lowering springs, and with the 195's I have ZERO fitment issues. No rubbing on front fenders or spring seat/strut, and rears have no problems either. I did roll my rear wheel wells but I found later that at the ride height Im at it was not necessary, maybe if I was about 1 inch lower. But again, this is running a lightly stretched 195. 205's may, and definitely 225's will require a bit of work
I only have 1 pic of them on the car, and the pic doesnt really do justice or give a good feel about how the car sits or how the wheels fit, but heres the one I have. I will be able to take more in a week or 2 when the car is back on the ground (its up on stands now getting an overhaul of the fuel system and rear axle)

Hey thanks for the reply! Thats good news, im thinking ill maybe get away with the 205/50/15's with a guard roll then. Can you post some pics sometime?
The wheels iv got fit perfect, they're 15x7.5 3pc, 2.5 outer/5"inner, or +23mm simmons v4 w 205/50/15 dunlop z1 star spec. they look great but bit common over here and its time for a change, ay!
Having trouble posting pics tho, dont know how to reduce the resolution or whatever. my avatar is all iv got atm, lol.
EDIT; sorry, i see you HAVE posted a pic, must have still been loading! Looks bloody good!

Why would you roll the fenders when using a 205? What offset were these wheels? I run a +10 all around, 15x8's, 195/50 on front and 215/50 rear and no rubbing anywhere....except the road surface when i drop the clutch under boost..
Ok, well im not sure of the differences between the aus delivered and the US cars but mine is a series 3 ('85) which has the 4x114.3 stud pattern and requires less offset in the wheels than the series 1 and 2 cars which have the 4x 100 axles and hubs.
All im sayin, on my car if i use a 15mm spacer on the back, the guards actually sit on the tyre, but a guard roll and a lift would probably make it work. The wheels are 7.5" +23et with 205 tyres, Effectively a +8 with the spacer.
The fronts already run 15mm spacers to get around the c/o's and compensate for neg camber, so they might be ok with +10's.

Mines turbo too- good fun!
How did you go fitting the 15x8 shakotans? Did you need to roll the guards? I just stumbled across them on ebay myself and all my searchings have led me back here! I want a set but they dont come in 7.5? Was looking at getting work equip 03's but the rotas are less than half the price and i think maybe i like them better!
that are the same wheels i'm thinking about and i don't want to alter the wheel arches just to fit the wheels so i'll be looking forward to the fitment pictures
I got 16x8 under my sa22c with no problem. It's all about the offset. Lets see 20mm offset is what I got. Needed 5mm spacers in front and using 10mm spacers in the back since I'm running 225/35 front and 255/35 rear
I'm thinking of a 15x7.5 or 8 with 205 tires so it must be an easy fit
you got it backwards man,. it is 15 front and 10 in the rear i forget if it is negative or positive but I do know that adding 10mm spacer makes the number get closer to zero on my application. I do however have a rubbing problem in the front which is better when dropped all the way down on the race coilovers. the inside rubbing is fine since there really is never a need for full lock inward anyway. However the outside rubbing was solved by shaving the fender flares about 5mm or so. I do get a nice chirp when trying to parallel park when the tire hits the sway bar, lol.

[edit] I worked out that id need around a +15 for 8" rims without raising the car or running narrower tyres. The 8" Shakotans only come in 0 or +10 so iv scrapped that idea.

Finally got the wheels mounted, the exhaust finished and ride height set. Now something in the electrical system is acting up. I think it's the oscillator, but I dunno. Car is a blast to drive and I love looking at it. I've noticed people looking while driving around town too, which while that isn't why I built the car,it still feels nice. Unfortunately I can't afford to keep it on the road along with the new car so she'll be parked for a bit. Maybe pull her out for a month in the fall.

Yeah, too bad I couldn`t keep it that low. Couldn`t even get it back into the shop because the exhaust was catching on the lip of the entry. Going to drop the nose back down a touch though.

... pretty shiney!
