Hello, I am new to RX7's but knw the whole deal about them. Also have been using thi forum to research my possible new toy. I have a bead on a fairly low mile 85 GSL for approximately $2000 dollars, and it is between that and a bike. Obviously all bias considered it seems to be a good deal, and I have been in he market for something to make my life less miserable since my DD is a mommy wagon 09 Ford Escape.

Also if I do end up with this car, how easily would it be to get the 6 port up to about 160-180hp. I am not looking to crush the world just to have something fun to cruise the back roads of Michigan, and maybe autocross every once in awhile. Hell maybe even track days.

Racing Beat sells a complete holley kit that includes 13b 6 port intake manifold and you can leave your irons stock ( no porting) with that setup and an exhaust road race system for your 85 you can easily be in those numbers.

 

Dont get the holley setup, its been shown to be trash.

Your GSL has a 6 port in it? That would be a GSL-SE or was it swapped in? If swapped in, did it
retain the EFI system or does it use a carb. If a carb which one does it have now?

The GSL-SE with a RB StreetPort exhaust added should make about that HP I would think or
close to it. Not a GSL-SE 13B expert so maybe someone with more knowledge will chime in to
either verify or refute my claim.

Update with new info. It is in fact a GSL-SE, with the stock EFI 13b 6port. No mods done by the current owner. Needs brakes (I will probably go O.E. for the time being, maybe Hawk HPS pads), tires(Gonna be a bitch to figure out what to do for those, and obviously an oil change & tune up.

Has 150,xxx miles on the chassis, with a rebuild motor at 85,xxx. So I was wrong on low mileage but eh.
