Hehe... The same question was posed in the lounge in the "Everyone hates N/A 13Bs" thread.

Congratulations... Now you make a question, preferably something slightly more difficult and trivial.

Do I get a cookie?

I don't know what to ask, so let's try to guess what car this engine is out of.

That's a good one. I'll have to say HB Cosmo. The 12A looks like it might even be a 6 port. I want to build one of those.

I agree. I looked a bit on wikipedia. Looks like the HB came 12a, 12at, and 13b. It was built from '82-'89. Fits with having a carb and with about the same amount of emission solenoids as the S3 RX-7s.

I can't quite make out the side of the engine behind the air pump. If it has aux port actuators, it's a 6 port 12A.

Oh. Looked a bit further into it. The HB was 6-port 12A from 81-85. That engine is probably closer to the '85 end of the range.

Jeff gets to ask the next question.

Ok, who can tell me what the oil galley hole spacing is on the rotor journals of an e-shaft? It can be 12A or 13B, but you must make that distinction in your answer.

Just a guess:
- 120 mm for 12A
- 130 mm for 13B

I could just go measure my spare 12A e-shaft.

Kent is correct.

12A = 12cm
13B = 13cm

Extremely easy to remember.

A more practical use for this knowledge is the selection of an intake or exhaust manifold or header. If you're not sure what it fits and don't have an engine handy, just measure the stud hole spacing. 12cm = 12A and 13cm = 13B. So easy Glazedham42 could do it.

Ok, here's a toughy. What is the stud hole spacing or oil galley spacing on the front section of a 20B? We already know the rear section is the same width as a 13B, so that's 13cm. What is the front section spacing?
