Pics from the April 5, 2011 OGTA meeting
Here's some photos of the April 5, 2011 OGTA meeting.
Rotaries were still showing up when I had to leave around sundown so Kristy and Holly will post the total 12A equivalents later on.
It was a sunny but coolish evening, in the mid '50's
The Iron Butt Award goes once again to Dave, who traveled 5 hours (one way) in his FD and brought along a piece of Crit's REPU to show us what the new paint job is going to look like (The REPU is going to be GORGEOUS).
Dave's FD is so fast that once he fires it up it's hard to get a picture of it that's not blurry
Greg the Younger and Greg the Elder and their faithful steeds
New Guy Greg III brought a 2GDFI box and installed it on the spot. The car started right up:

Mike has modded his rad overflow bottle with some kind of FC contraption. The rest of the car is looking pretty good however

I like Holly's RX-9 but don't you think she'd look great in a white FB?
Billys FE is looking more like an FF every meet:
Here's Crit's SE, probably the second best running rotary on the lot after the Silver One
I couldn't believe it. This Starlett showed up with a 12A in it
And some other FB's I'd never seen before:
And some red FC's that are hard to tell apart (Kristy first, then Peter's; hope I got it right this time)

There are a few things you can do to encourage participation and assure the meets will be successful
1. Schedule a regular monthly meeting at a convenient time and place so that folks aren't always wondering when and where the next meeting is (or if it is going to happen at all). We meet the first Tuesday of every month, in the evening after work at a location that is near an interstate and where a lot of people live. Never change this time or location unless absolutely necessary.
2. Take and post lots of pictures. Rotorheads like to see pictures of their cars (and themselves).
3. Never cancel a meeting, even if only one or two people show up. If that happens, post lots of pictures showing you had a good time anyway.
4. Use the meetings to liberally exchange parts, information and ideas with a "no profits" philosophy so that club members are constantly helping out and being helped by others in the group.
5. Be inclusive. Stress the importance and superiority of 1st gen RX-7's and Old School Rotaries but also give lots of respect and kudos to FC's, FD's and FE's. Even include boingers, just don't give them 12A credits.
6. If you really want to get cheesy (like us OGTA's) make a business card that you can slip under the windshield wiper of RX-7's you might see. You can see the OGTA card in my sig below. It started off as a joke but since has become a very effective way of "spreading the word".
