other rx7 forums?
I was looking through my rx7 bookmarks to see what other forums I use to visit but some are quiet as crickets. Are there any other forums that have lots of activity besides this one?

Damn, it did start!
I hate Facebook for RX7 stuff. not one idea why people tolerate it. posts get lost. you can't go back and search. Most are FD posts anyways.

Facebook is definitely a chore to deal with. The lack of searching, bookmarking, subscribing, all of that gets very difficult to manage and my Facebook is already as screwed as it can be. There are countless different groups to join, I'd start listing them but I would get lost very quickly. I run one called Midwest Mazda RX-7's but haven't done much with it so far.
This is honestly the most active RX-7 forum I've ever found.
If you're asking about FB's, there's a pretty great Facebook page called "1st Gen RX-7's" where many people from this forum, including I, go on quite frequently.

I use www.RX7fb.com ? Index page quite a lot. Although as mentioned already. Facebook is killing everything off. It's such a shame as there is a lot of awesome information on forums. You also don't lose a post within days. Everybody on Facebook seems to be an expert with 80 years experience too -.-

^^^ Lol, agreed haha. That's why I still post here as often as I can. Usually in the morning and in the evening. Before and after work really. This forum has been a huge part of my life for many years. I've shared restorations here, bought and sold cars and parts here, been a moderator for quite some time and I enjoy doing the nod thing, keeping things clean and orderly. This forum is, has been, and will always be my RX-7 home.

I was hoping to get my old club active after a 10 year hiatus, but there is no activity in my "service area" save a few people. The NW region is rotted into the earth dead. I still do not understand the fine details of Facebook. it seems that unless you are exceptionally prolific in posting, your post will get buried in the posts of babies, cats and politics. The problem is facebook is a torrent of information for apathetic people.

FailBook really is sad. It could be so much better, but it isn't.
I've never had a desire to get on it and I don't know why anyone with normal communication skills would ever tolerate it. It seems to attract bottom of the barrel types and keeps them there while the ones with some common sense realize what's going on and quit using it. It's an unhealthy addiction which is encouraged by the exploding numbers of smart phone users.
Looks like I'm in a small but growing minority of folks who were never FBers like me or are quitting FB and other social media in droves now.

This has to be the worst forum to use "FB" as an abbreviation for Facebook.

I've been on social media since I was probably 13 years old or so, started on MySpace and then traversed to Facebook when I was maybe 14. So I currently have about 11 years or experience on social media sites as of today.
While it is definitely not all good, there are definite benefits to it that many people don't utilize. I've sold and shipped over 17 boxes of parts all over the continental US in the last 21 days with the use of Facebook mainly (8 packages total), the forum here quite a lot less in the realm of 4 packages, 3 packages from eBay, and 2 from Craigslist. The Pacifica widebody FB that had the Epsilon 3 piece wheels on it I got solely based on a Facebook deal, best purchase I've ever made as far as value per dollar in an FB. The issue I see is that many people don't want to learn it and see only the negative side effects from using it by the "bottom of the barrel types" posting stupid, ignorant and pointless garbage all the time. My personal profile is almost all RX-7 stuff, mixed in with snowmobiles and dirt bike things every now and then because that's how I've chosen to set it up.
In a lot of ways I see this forum as just another form of social media, albeit a very helpful one. You still get the so called "sh*t posters" on here [which I know I can be a member of many times], as well as the extremely useful individuals who only post a few times a week and always with experience to back up their statements.
If I had to choose one for a medium for solely car-related content, I'd pick this forum any day of the week though.
For me, the benefits of Facebook and Instagram far outweigh the negative side effects of its use. All personal preference though
That's a pretty good point right there

I have to agree with DreamInRotary that the benefits of FB and Instagram outweigh the "junk" found on those sites. I find that on almost every forum or FB group, you have your share of useful members and post and your not so useful members and post. It comes with the territory I guess, but I think it's better to have them all as options vs. having less.

I operate two forums..one dedicated to the Daihatsu Rocky..and another for black powder enthusiasts both have suffered from fazebooks one stop shopping..I used it to keep up with my children..still do...but that is about it..I think the trend will be a return to this sort of forum.... always been my favorite type.

Can anyone explain how you use FaceBook? I'm a web programmer and find FaceBook hard to find things. The Timeline function sucks. Is there any type of search that is meaningful. How if FaceBook organized? Because of these things, I don't use it but am willing to learn.

Usually a business page, like Racing Beat, will have a search box you can use to find old posts, but not for group pages, which is annoying.
Facebook is no good for tech stuff. I used to be part of an RX group and a tech question will quickly be buried with "check out my rims" or "for sale" posts.
As a result, newer owners are conditioned to posting a question without searching which is why every so often a "how much hp can my 12A make" post gets made here.
What it is good for is starting a local club since you don't have to make a website and try to get everyone to visit that.
It's also good for showing off your rims.

^^^^ And that is exactly why Facebook has taken away traffic from the forums, It conditions people to just post a bunch of random things. At least on a forum if a guy is searching around, he may find more info than he needs and actually may have questions answered that might have been lingering in h is mind. Or maybe he will find some good preventative maintenance discussions or perhaps he will be swayed from using the wrong lubricants or products that can cause harm to the car. Not saying that the info can't be found on Facebook, it would just take much longer to find that info and find reliable information.
