I like the way the hood lines are continued onto the air dam, and the shape of tha air dam, but its too damn wide.

That is what I'm NOT going to do to my car... Just a straight down air dam, side skirts, tiny spoiler, and rear wrap...

What no WING?!
The reason there is no wing is due to the size or the rear deck... notice the raised lip on either edge of the car in the back. That rear deck is designed to act as a wing. The lip is there to prevent the air pushing down on the back of the car from spilling off the sides.

The reason that rear deck is so long is to reach more into the wind stream. Also note the lower side of the rear deck again there to help in producing downforce.

Just wanted to put my $.02 in on the dynamics of the whole thing...

The kit is actually a replica or possibly an origional from the late 70's IMSA cup. Check out the Moby Dick Porsche's

To me this looks like it's being resotored to early IMSA specs possible for vintage racing? IMO that's pretty cool.

Yeah but the back end is still ugly. It has that wannabe mid mounted engine look. Needs wider tires though.

85 gsl 302 I think you are vary close. I dont have the pic but may be directfreak does early 80s to late 80s lemans campain car. it looks like a lot of you need to take mazda history lessons. if thats what it is spost to look like it will get a monster wing. I would have to bet that it has some power or is in place to get some.

Finally someone who knows...
The car was not just a piece of showgoing crap.
Mazda campagned in LM with RX7's that were indeed very much looking like this one. As far as I know, the front of the LM ones (called 252 and 253, several evolutions) wasn't exactly the same. But I did see pics of this front end before (as being build by Mazda's racing department, before Mazdaspeed)
The rear is very much the same as the LM RX7's.
I'm not sure if this is a "real" one, build by/for Mazda, or a replica. But it does look very close to the real ones, so it might be a version of it.
Normally the car had a large wing, at least the 252i and the 254 had. The picture I have from the 253 shows a long-tail, but no wing (1981 Le Mans).
The pictures I have are in a book, so I cannot post them.
Nevertheless, one huge difference between the race cars and the one pictured here is the fact that those racers (also the windtunneltest ones) had two large sets of lights in the airdam.
Also, the airdam of the real racers looked different, the 254 being a completely different design. The car might be a replica, but that bodystyle was a Mazda one.
So stop laughing at it, and behold a piece of history guys!

No WONDER my Bondo stock went through the roof recently.

...Maybe the wing unfolds from under the hatch?...

No, wait: the hatch IS the wing! It pops up like a speed brake!

When I look at that, I see function over form. Though I would think a Plexiglas stock-style hatch would have been better.

That vacuum pocket under the rear is what would keep the rear in on the ground instead of a wing. I dig it alot. Oh and HOLY THREAD RESSURECTION MR. WAYNE
