I'm not in it for the comments Jim, I figured everyone would enjoy picking it apart at some point.
The BaT site has become a new addiction for me even though I have no monies to spend on
another car.

Wasn't '82 the worst year for FB's?
Not an SA. And not a fully evolved FB.
That one is nice, rare color combo, low mileage.
But you can't modify it (too original) and it not the best year for vintage (need either 79 or 80 for an SA, or 83-85 for an FB).
Plus those dealers have already got their hooks into it, so you can figure about half what you're paying is going to somebody else's profits.
But for folks with the money who don't like to wrench, it would be a fun toy for awhile.
This SA is much nicer, a real project to invest in:

Actually, 82 has some benefits. The lightest rotating assembly, LSD and disc brakes depending
on the model, also the lightest curb weight of the FBs, plus it shares a lot of the interior chunks
still from the SA.

I drove a car with an 85mph speedo today... Man I felt like I was hauling ***; turns out I was doing 5 under.
That needle just moves so fast when the max is 85.
EDIT: was 82 the last year of the dangling from the radiator front mount oil cooler? Then the series 3's had the proper in front of the radiator oil cooler? My 84' had a beehive, so whats the deal with the beehive.

The beehive was a bean counters attempt at engineering and it fails. It makes the
12As overly sensitive to overheating because it's not as good a solution for cooling
the oil as the stand alone oil coolers. Basically it cools the oil with the coolant
in the engine which means the oil never gets cooler than the temp of the coolant.
Think about it.

What advantage does the 83' have over the 82'? I'm surprised people are suggesting that. The 82' doesn't have the beehive oil-cooler, which seems like advantage enough, and I personally think the S2's have the worst interior of all three generations. The S1 interior is cool and 70's, the S3 interior is cool and 80's, whereas the S2 is a funky, tacky 70's/80's hybrid in my opinion. Not that I don't love my 83', just saying though.
