New spoiler!

I'm not sure what style or brand it is, but I likey! The best part is it was free. I just slapped some paint on it and mounted it right up. I feel it changed the look of the car quite a bit. I gave the whole car a good clay bar treatment and 2 coats of tech wax. It got a little dirty since, but it still looks great regardless. I cleaned the trim up with some back to black and removed all the old glue from the back and used new black 3m tape to mount it back up.

If anyone knows more details about the spoiler let me know. The guy I got it from got it free off of his mechanic in Florida and he said he got it from Mazdatrix many years ago. It sorta resembles the 2nd gen spoiler design except it hangs off the back of the car a few inches sorta like a mini wail tail.

Before...

After...

Looks good...can't tell from the pictures, but does it go around the radio antenna or does the antenna go through the spoiler??

That looks like an FC TII spoiler. I've seen it on one other car and considered it for mine. Looks awesome. You going to leave it black or paint it to match the car?

Wow, nice car. The spoiler looks really good.
You must have an early SA, I don't think I've ever seen one without the passenger side mirror.

Nice. I could never decide if I like that or the 3-piece IMSA wrap around spoiler more, but I aquired a 3-piece. I still love that spoiler though. If you ever want to get rid of it, hit me up.

Post more pics.

Thanks for the compliments. The first picture I've taken of her in 6 months. I'd like to get more on a nice day. It is an early production. #518735 build date 9-78. No passenger mirror, passenger side hood prop, and the speaker dash I think they call it. Although there is no speaker in it, its just a grille. And it has original paint!

It looks a lot like the 86-91 spoiler, but 79-85 is embossed on the underside of the spoiler. I painted it black because I wanted to break up all the red and tie into the gunmetal wheels a bit.

My car is registered at my parents Chapel Hill address, but I live in Williamson I won't have to worry about MARTA.

I'm about to start a part time job for some extra cash on top of my full time job so some REspeed coils and new struts/bushings are first on my list!

These pictures are 6 months apart. I had all of the moldings removed about 8-9 months ago to do a restoration on them and decided at the moment I liked it better without moldings because the paint under them was in good shape. About a month ago I picked up the spoiler and decided I needed to break up all the red with something so I painted the spoiler black and restored the moldings and reinstalled them. Two thumbs up I think. Suspension is the only thing this car is lacking on...

117,xxx original miles.
79 fully modified SMW Nikki.
RB carb hat and RB foam filter.
2gdfis with brand new NGK wires and BUR7EQP leading with BR8EQ trailing.
Pacesetter header, heat wrapped, RB mini presilencer, RB PP muffler.
Excedy clutch.
New! Clutch master, clutch soft line, brake master, brake booster, rear brake lines, factory fuel pump.
Rota RB 15x7 +20 with Falken Ziex 205-50-15 rear and Kumho Ecsta 205-50-15 front.

I currently run Catrol 20-50, but I will be changing to Royal Purple 20-50 ASAP seeing how much of a difference it made on my Miata.
For my transmission I have a special 50/50 blend of MT 90 and ATF. I do not premix. I see no advantage of premixing on a carbureted motor.

Future plans include REspeed coils, new struts, new bushings. Hawk pads and cross drilled front rotors. RB 4.875 ring and pinion gear kit.

This car is pretty quick right now, but with the suspension and the gear kit it will really scoot!
