Nice color!

Here is most of the email that I got back, I removed the price. I have replied with more questions, but have not gotten a reply yet.

Just started production again this month. It’s not full time and I’m working through a pretty big wait list so no eta yet.
Complete kit bolts in with no permanent modifications to the Rx7. It will modernize car without losing its charm.

R & P Set up

Thank you Silver 82. Hopefully he'll respond.

Alexworthy, you have a beautiful car. I'd be interested but I'm the original owner of mine and will never sell her... she'll go to one of my son's! Still running well on the original engine with only 145,000 miles in 43 years (hard to believe it's been that long!). She's not stock anymore... lots of Racing Beat goodies including the Delorto Carb conversion, headers, etc. It's still one of my favorites to drive... IF I can just sort out this steering issue. I'm convinced that the way to go is the R & P set up! JDMMINOT seems to have a good description of how he fabricated his own system which in the end may be what I have to end up doing if the MTHEORY kit is not available.

I've attached a couple of photos of my RX7...

I suggest giving him a PM to get current pricing. I thought the price was reasonable for a custom low volume and very well made/proven solution.

You need the side skirts to complete the body kit look!
Aside from that, it looks great.

Hi 1BADRX7: Your comment is valid. I had the car repainted probably 30 years ago and I struggled with whether to add the side skirts in addition to the front and rear pieces at that time. I just didn't like them. I obviously chose not to add them... personal taste decision. Thanks for the compliment though. I own a number of sports cars and the RX7 will always be special to me. It's not the fastest but it is unique... my first sports car and I bought it brand new... graduation gift to myself for sticking through Engineering School!

I can't wait to add MTHEORY's rack and pinion kit to it so that it will finally steer as it should have from the factory! I used to autocross it quite successfully in the 80's when it was the car to have in stock class. It's still a great handling car but I now race my MazdaSpeed Miata in STU class. It's a rocketship and handles like it's on rails! I love both of them!

Have a great day!

Future M-Theory Customer

I have researching rack and pinon solutions for early RX-7s. I will be restoring and modifying my 80RX-7.

I intend to purchase this bolt in kit if M-Theory has the inventory or time to fabricate.

I will PM M-Theory in the coming weeks.

Jeff

Just received my steering kit yesterday. Now to do some re-reading of this thread and of the shop manual to help make sure that the installation goes well.

Thanks Scott. The kit looks fantastic and is very beefy.

I'm new to all of this and sent MTheory,Inc a private message asking about a rack and pinion kit. Was getting ready to pull the trigger on an eBay remanufactured steering box for $1,300 but I'd rather have the R&P talked about here. The steering box in my 85 has been adjusted as far as I can do it and it still has play (shocker).

I read above he was making kits for this last summer...maybe he made a few extra....? Hoping so.

Any help is appreciated, doesn't look like there are too many options.

Thanks,
-Ted

I'm trying to understand how this kit attaches to the lower shaft. From what I can tell, the lower shaft is cut off from the column, then the plain round end is bolted to a U joint without welding, or possibly even just with a notch and a set screw not even a bolt through it, or have I missed something? Also the collapsible "repair" is using rivets, I wish people would stop doing that, there are plastic pins available which work much better and retain the OEM collapsible function.

The rack has to be from a 3rd gen prelude. It was made 88 to 91 so meets criteria. Had a 91 as my first car. Are these still being made?
