Steering Column

I have a 1982 rx7 non power steering.
I want to take my steering column out to replace it.
How do i detach it from the steering box. i have taken the bolts on the inside of the car.

Im guesting you have to unscrew that big nut just before the steering box.

First why are you going to replace the column but not the steering box?

You should replace them as a unit, cause when you bust open the steering box, you may have more on your hands than most people can handle.

If you have the bust sheer pins and its cause shaft movement there is a very easy fix for that.

You can just remove the 4 bolts that hook it to the dash's sub frame, and remove the steering wheel, shroud, igntion lock and the ign switch. Then pull it off the cover off the box, but if you want to remove the steering shaft, you have to remove the whole box... Trust me, how do I know? I rebuilt the entire steering box, new worm gears , new sector shaft etc PITA
