GSL-SEX2,
I'm an Airdale (AECS) retired out of a helo squadron at NAS Jacksonville last SEP/06. I had a friend (MM1 Scott lansford) who was a plankowner on the USS Ronald Reagan (Scott got my retirment flag flown over CVN-76 on it's first cruise). I was on a det in Norfolk and I was at the commisioning ceremony of that "bad-boy." I was stationed at NAS North Island with VQ-5 from 96-99 and lived in Coronado. What a sweet tour. Not too shabby being stationed in San Diego is it? My "oh-****" handle is for a Miata. I wanted a wood handle set set-off the Nardi wood steering wheel. Shaved a little off the end and reamed-out the center a little and it fits perfect.

There's a reason this car is so many peoples favorite, simply put Mazda got it right .
The only thing you need to add to this beautiful car is yourself behind the wheel.

Terrified.
I love black FB's. I love black GSL-SE's even more. Congrats on the buy. Enjoy her, and no matter what everyone else on here says, its your car. Do whatever you want with her.
Although, I'd love to see her stay stock.

That is an amazingly clean car. I would not molest it at all.
Forget the DVD system and just add an iPOD adapter.
Upgrade the speakers, and add a small 8" bazooka tube.
Because of the hatch shape, an 8" Bazooka tube actually
gives ALOT of bass. You can even hide the tube UNDER
one of the rear bins.
That way it will look and act like stock, but get the sound you like.
It's a real nice ride, don't screw it up. The SE's really don't need anything. I wish I had a perfectly stock one to enjoy on a more
regular basis.
Enjoy her. Modify the Mustang, and leave that natual beauty as stock as possible.

I also am thinking about leaving my Navi in the Stang and keeping the stock SE headunit in the 7. It's pretty cool, and I doubt anyone would break into my car to steal it.
I'm looking at this iPod adapter:
http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/tuneflex06
I'd try to run the wire from the cassette THROUGH the headunit and out the back. Make it look nice.
I would like to get 2 of these Bazooka subs:
Dig the rotorish shape!
But I don't want a big ugly box in the back, and don't want to give up my storage bins. I saw a nice subwoofer install against the far back of the trunk, which could also be hidden under the carpet. That is the plan. The new Fosgate amps are so small one might be able to go BEHIND each of the storage bins... if not they'll be hidden in the spare-tire well.
I'm not sure about my other speakers yet...

I just ordered a set of Infinity Kappa 4" 50W coaxials for up front:
And a set of Infinity Reference 6.5" 50W coaxials for the rear:
I went with the Infinity BassLink II 10" self-powered 250W subwoofer:
The subwoofer also has a built-in 35Wx4@4Ohm amp, that produces 50Wx4@2Ohm with the Infinity surround speakers.
Figure I'll tap in right at the stock amps, on the input from the joystick. Route the lines to the Infinity sub/amp, and then route all new speaker wire from the sub amp to the surround speakers. This would leave all the factory wiring in place if I ever wanted to go back to stock (sell the car?). Very little hacking of the stock wiring is involved.

I love my SE. put a header on it, get rid of the three cats and she'll sound a little meaner, and, well, manly I guess. I have all opts BUT power steering and it really takes you back to the good old days, should I say it? The muscle car era. These don't have the torque unless you build em up but they sure are fun to drive.
