new coils

i have searched all the first gen threads and only find info on dfis systems, my question is will my stock fb run better and get better spark if i replace the coils with brand new ones. the car does run ok as i am heat cycling it after a rebuild. im just curious if i should spend 80 bucks on coils, to see if it runs better or stronger spark.

I just replaced my ignition coils and spark plug wires a couple of weeks ago. Car starts easier and seems to rev easier.

I'm curious, what brand/type of coil did you install?

I did the MSD ingnition system and I could tell a difference, next will be to replace the 2 coils for sure.

I'll be going with MSD black coils

lol when i read the last line in the description.

The Mazda OEM coils are no longer available, these are aftermarket NGK units. these are whatever we can find at this point.

Paulieboy72 To answer your question about replacing coils, you can use a multimeter to test the resistance (ohm's) of your coils. Spec is 1.35 ohms give or take 10%. I have found that most of my original rx7 coils are often out of spec by multiple ohms. So I ordered some coils with the proper amount of resistance.
