Congratulations! '83 was the best year. And 40k, nice. Got pics?

Post some videos too, 12A's talk to you and tell you what they need.

The transmission is probably the pilot bearing, but either way a new clutch is in order since you'll be in there anyway.

FB's are easy to work on, you will learn as you go.

And there are plenty of people hear who can help.

For maintenance check all the fluids and replace any that don't look fresh.

Also replace the fuel filter, even if it looks good. Cheap easy maintenance.

Pull the plugs, they will tell you a lot and you'll also learn how to hook the plug wires back up.

Go over the entire power chain, carb, intake, exhaust, ignition, etc and look for modifications, they are common on these cars and need to be taken into account.

So let's get started!

Welcome aboard! First off, it might be helpful if you told us a little about yourself, other cars you've owned, how much you worked on them, and what brought you to the Rx7 scene.

Additionally, Ait never hurts to create a profile signature that outlines some of the basics about your car so that people trying to help you don't have to ask the same questions over and over before they can offer assistance. Things like; what year, what build trim, how many miles, what mods have you done to it, etc. This is a huge time saver, esp. when someone is new and forgets to add it before asking for help.

Take care, and I hope you'll find the people here to be friendly and informative - but don't forget that most of the problems you'll run into early on have been posted about, discussed, and solved before, so get used to SEARCHING before you post. Even basic effort on your part will get you up and running before anyone here can chime in,

I haven't gotten the car yet! It's being shipped right now, I'll try to snap some videos and photos soon

So, actually i said first and second but owner said it doesn't engage into gear, do you still believe it's the pilot bearing?

So change oil and oil filter correct? Is there a oil filter and oil you recommend for 1.1L 12A?
What do you mean by pull the plugs?
Is there a guide on how to check everything including carb, intake, exhaust, ignition and etc?

I have own only toyotas up until now and only piston engines! Never owned a rotary.
Always wanted one and finally pulled the trigger.
It's 1983 GSL IMSA Package 42k original miles, and it's all stock and even has AC!

But thank you for the tips!

Some things are just transmission doesn't engage.
Need new brakes
E-brake is weak (idk how to adjust)
front wheel bearing
some rust on control arms and suspension but body is straight

"What do you mean by pull the plugs?"
LOL- SPARK plugs.
Start with new plugs, dizzy cap and rotor no matter what.
Oil: many here use Castrol GTX 10-30
Get a shop manual, be it Mazda ($25 ebay) or Chiltons, Clymers, or my fav Haynes.

Welcome. The first thing I'd recommend is to go here
Foxed.ca - Mazda RX-7 Manuals
and download everything there that pertains to your car. It is truly a treasure chest.
