Give me a couple of days, I will get a few pics up. I'm finishing putting a few things together, just came out of the paint shop. It's looking good.

I'm real close. I'm probably going to have the car dyno'd and weighed on Wednesday just to be safe. Minimum competition weight with Driver = 2192 lbs, with 217 WHP. If you look at my adjustments for running a 10.5" full slick and being light, you'll see I'm right at the adjusted 8.7 limit for the class.

Luckily the slicks eat up a descent amount of HP on the dyno rollers. Oh ya, I will be number 70 for nationals. In my avitar I have 07 on the car from my regional events. It was allready taken.

how much of a difference did you notice when you started running the non dot slicks vs. the r6's and what not? ever done a comparison? ive got a little to spare on the points and was pondering trying a set of the non dot tires at some point in the future. didnt know if it would be worth the money or not???

Rob, your car is beautiful. I'd definitely going to have to bring the 1st gen up to the Fort Sometime when it's done. I'd really like to check out your 2nd gen in person. Looks like it's very well put together. What wheels are you running?

I don't have a good answer for you regarding the R6's vs. non dot slicks.

I've always ran a full slick since I've had the wide body on the car. Last year I ran a 23x8.5x15 slick on the narrow body. Last time I ran the R6 or any DOT was about 5 years ago, it was a 205/40/17 R6. I was impressed with it at the time, but there was a 2 year gap where the car sat in the garage getting fixed, then went to the slicks once I had it running again. I would need to try both setups within the same year.

The 275/35/15 Hoosier R6's was an idea for me in case I run Time Attack. I've yet to try that setup though. My experience is that the DOT tires are very comparible if your running Time Trial or Time Attack. What I've noticed though, is the slicks do not fall off as fast during races compared to my competition running DOT's.

I can run hard for 30-40 minutes (near qualifing times) on a relatively new set of slicks without them dropping off much. It's great for harrasing whoever is in front of me!

Here are some updated pics from this weekend. The car is sitting on my rain tires, obviously not the slicks I will be running.

I still need to install my lower deck lid lip spoiler, it now stays between the pedestals of my GT wing. Once that is on the car, I will put on my back glass (actually plexiglass).

the fall off is actually more what i was curious about. i noticed the r6's getting greasy by lap 5 or so on most tracks ive run so far. ive tried different pressures too but seems to only change it by one lap or so either way. ill probably try the non dots next season.

btw your car looks sick man! puts the exterior of mine to total shame.

great car gsl-se-ya. I remember seeing that car at NASA HPDE's before it was flared and winged. Glad to see it's successful. Have fun in Ohio and give em hell.

There are lots of vids of Mid-Ohio on youtube but here is one with a description of the track turn-by-turn by Hurley Haywood.

Oh, and Madness turn is trickey.

I wouldn't go that far. I think your second gen looks bitch'n. I think we represent both sweet 1st and 2nd gen cars. By the way, I used to have a Black 90 GTUs model. Loved that car. I can only afford one toy though.

I just heard that someone is loaning a Corvette to Danny Popp for the TTS class. Looks like he will be running in both TTU and TTS. I heard he was scoping my times out once he saw my Tripoint Engineering sponsorship. (I only get discounts) It will be interesting to see if I have something for him by the end of the weekend. Wish I new the track allready.

Thanks,
I appreciate the info and video. I watched some you tube video's in the past, but nothing instructional.

The car is finally dialed in, should be competitive at nationals. I'm still worried a little about the motor though. It has around 20-22 hrs on it so far and will see another 6hrs at nationals between TTS and ST2. I'm planning on short shifting for all my race practice sessions. (below 8000rpm)

There are no signs of a bad motor though and the compression check turned out OK.

Hope so, I should be able to run in the high 31's once I learn the track and have the car dialed in. (shocks and ride height). Terry Free ran a 1:32.5 in TTU last year. I've been almost a second faster per lap then him at our most recent regional events, including one high horsepower track. Using him as a gauge, I should be in the 31's. Especially since Mid-Ohio is a handling track.

I've been trying to determine how fast I will be able to take turn 1 after the front straight. I'm think there is time to be made up in this turn. I thinking I should be able to take it almost flat out. I will probably breathe the throttle on turn in, then get back on the gas to settle the back end just before mid corner. The fast guys are allways fast on high speed corners!

depending on how fast your car is and how well your set up is on will determine that one. hint hint......left foot brake that corner......

It sucks you can't get a new set. It would be nice to put a new set on for Saturday's TT. It would probably shave at least 1-2 seconds off your best time. Are you suppose to shave the R6's?

Unluckily, there are too many people scheduled off for that weekend already and thus I can't get the days off. You two better have people taking video because I want to be there.

Oh, and Rob, do you still have your FB?

Hopefully I will have some good on board footage from my recently installed Chase Cam. There is a company that's going to make a video of certain race groups. Originally ours was not one of them, but all the racers in my group are pooling funds so that our race will also be professionally recorded.

Keep me updated on this video. If there is any way to be able to purchase it, I'd be interested. Especially if it features Rob's FC. I've been wanting to see that thing run since I first saw pics of it when he first posted them up on here.

I am glad I was fortunate enough to see his FB run at IRP (now O'Reilly Raceway Park) when he first got it done. Watching him annihilate FDs on corners was pretty amazing. I can only imagine what his FC would do to the same FDs.

Word of caution for some reason I've seen that little kink on the back straight claim many cars . Not sure why though I've personally never driven on the Mid-Ohio track even though I want to . G/L I should be there cheering you on what pit are you in ?
