NASA nationals
Is anyone going to be at NASA nationals between Sept 11-14th? I will be there in my Rx7 running TTS (Time Trial) and ST2 (Super Touring2) race class.

I will be there with Grassroots Motorsports Magazine my employer but without my car.
You should sign up for our contingency program. $100 if you run our stickers and place first. Call the office and ask for Debbie. (800-520-8292) You should be getting the magazine already as a member of NASA.

What color is your rx7? Have you ran mid-ohio before? If so, what kind of times are you shooting for at nats?
I heard TTU and ST1 is tough when Danny Popp is running his Corvette there.

Thanks you for the info.
I'm hopefully planning on running around a 1:32.4 or better in TTS and ST2. One of the Socal locals is Terry Free running a Z06, he ran nats last year and pulled around a 1:32.5. He is running a class above me in TTU and ST1 (your class) but I always seem to run the same lap times and sometimes even better. Using him as a marker I should be able to hit 1:32's once I learn the track.
Do you have any on board video of mid-ohio in your car? I have some but always looking for more.

no unfortunately i have yet to be able to get any online. my camera is hd and i think the files are to big or something cause no video hosting sites will let me load them up mid o is definitely a technical track that favors better handling cars once you get set up down.

Terrified.
How much would this be to get in as a spectator? I'd love to make the road trip there with you, Rob, and watch a couple days worth of racing. Coincidentally I'll have a few days I can schedule off and get paid for as well.

Rob would probably know better than I, but our regional events are only $10 a weekend to watch. I heard it may be $10 per day at nats though.
I've heard that it's a technical track. How is the surface? Bumpy or smooth? Looks to be fairly smooth with a couple of blind and maybe off camber corners.

the surfaces is like glass. this is the second season on the repaved surface. little hint for ya, youll see patches out there is some of the corners where they put down "superpave" in some corners which is supposed to hold up better to abuse well it also has better grip so use them they are your friend...

What does the "superpave" look like? Is it generally lighter or darker in color than the rest?
That's good information, Thanks. Tripoint gave me a CD with 10 minutes of qualifing from J Saine. Just from the video you can tell it looks slick. Wasn't sure though since the touring cars only run a 235 wide R888.

When I go back into work tomorrow I'll schedule the 13th and 14th off and see if I can get a couple friends to make the trip with me to enjoy some good old fashioned racing.
That is under the assumption that you two are racing on those days. How many races are being held that weekend?
