Red face NASA nationals

Is anyone going to be at NASA nationals between Sept 11-14th? I will be there in my Rx7 running TTS (Time Trial) and ST2 (Super Touring2) race class.

I will be there with Grassroots Motorsports Magazine my employer but without my car.

You should sign up for our contingency program. $100 if you run our stickers and place first. Call the office and ask for Debbie. (800-520-8292) You should be getting the magazine already as a member of NASA.

What color is your rx7? Have you ran mid-ohio before? If so, what kind of times are you shooting for at nats?

I heard TTU and ST1 is tough when Danny Popp is running his Corvette there.

yeah im from the great lake region so ive run there a ton...just not with the fc that im running now so im still sorting it out. pretty much danny owns everyone right now. no ones been even close! im shooting for 1.31's or 32's which is pretty much fighting for second place. if your gonna be competitive in tts of st2 your gonna need to be in the 32's or low 33's the vettes have been cleaning house this year in those classes and are on the ball man. bring your A game cause your gonna need it! i would love to see the vettes get beat finally! i have a red widebody fc sponsered by neukin motordevelopment. you cant miss it. im underpowered in ttu right now but tryin not too turn up boost since im not sure on reliability or trans and diff right now so im stuck around 400 hp till i can upgrade to a dog box or something. i dont have a good recent pics of my car but heres on that will at least make it so youll know its me. if you got any questions on the track or set up if youve never been there just let me know ill help ya out any way i can.

Thanks you for the info.

I'm hopefully planning on running around a 1:32.4 or better in TTS and ST2. One of the Socal locals is Terry Free running a Z06, he ran nats last year and pulled around a 1:32.5. He is running a class above me in TTU and ST1 (your class) but I always seem to run the same lap times and sometimes even better. Using him as a marker I should be able to hit 1:32's once I learn the track.

Do you have any on board video of mid-ohio in your car? I have some but always looking for more.

no unfortunately i have yet to be able to get any online. my camera is hd and i think the files are to big or something cause no video hosting sites will let me load them up mid o is definitely a technical track that favors better handling cars once you get set up down.

How much would this be to get in as a spectator? I'd love to make the road trip there with you, Rob, and watch a couple days worth of racing. Coincidentally I'll have a few days I can schedule off and get paid for as well.

Rob would probably know better than I, but our regional events are only $10 a weekend to watch. I heard it may be $10 per day at nats though.

I've heard that it's a technical track. How is the surface? Bumpy or smooth? Looks to be fairly smooth with a couple of blind and maybe off camber corners.

actually our regional tracks are usually free to watch around here. so im not sure what mido is charging for nationals.

the surfaces is like glass. this is the second season on the repaved surface. little hint for ya, youll see patches out there is some of the corners where they put down "superpave" in some corners which is supposed to hold up better to abuse well it also has better grip so use them they are your friend...

What does the "superpave" look like? Is it generally lighter or darker in color than the rest?

That's good information, Thanks. Tripoint gave me a CD with 10 minutes of qualifing from J Saine. Just from the video you can tell it looks slick. Wasn't sure though since the touring cars only run a 235 wide R888.

When I go back into work tomorrow I'll schedule the 13th and 14th off and see if I can get a couple friends to make the trip with me to enjoy some good old fashioned racing.

That is under the assumption that you two are racing on those days. How many races are being held that weekend?

I'll be running both TT and the race class, assuming my car makes it to Sunday.

Rob, do you have any more pictures of your 2nd gen? I remember your first gen from the time I came up to the Fort to get some parts from Chuck. I also saw it at Rev a couple of years ago. The 2nd gen looks really mean though. More pics please!
