My new muffler!

So, going through some hardships, and yesterday I had an impulse moment to get me a little something-something for my 7. So, today, after calling around, I ended up finding something decent. I'm planning on having it installed this weekend, so hope it all goes well. And, I'm on a budget so, $190 was MORE than what I was wanting to spend but I wanted to treat myself, and my 7.

Voila!

That looks very nice. Magnaflow mufflers always sound great on a rotary.

Good work....love my magnaflow. It sounds good with stock exhaust manifolds and cats, but if you have the chance, get headers and cat delete....it sounds so much better!

We have a giant muffler/exhaust thread somewhere that lists all of the systems/mufflers used and I believe there are sound clips in there also.

Nice looking muffler. Wish someone had done dyno testing of before and afterwards with these mufflers.

Only muffler that I have ever used and has been proven to add HP is the Racing Beat ones.

Thank you all. I'm currently at a friend's place and he welded it up for me, and also taking care of some wheel well rust.

It's already installed and looks great! The reason I got square tips is because they didn't have the one with round tips. It was either this one or a single outlet with a 4" opening and that seemed too ricer-ish.

I have manifold, no pre-cats, new cat, and this. I started it up, and the idle and low rev burble sounds great. I can't wait to get it onto the road. I asked the friend if it sounded different when I revved and such, he agreed, as he heard the stock system when I pulled in. I already got pics, I'll be sure to ****** some video of it today.

Okay, my video is busy uploading to YouTube, so I'll at least post some pictures of what went on with the install. They are, in order:
  • The stocker compared to the Magnaflow
  • My friend cut the stocker open because I wanted to see how restrictive it was. Boy, is it.
  • The new muffler welded on and we also painted the pipe behind it to make it look a tad cleaner.
  • My friend welding the new muffler up.

And, some more pictures to share.
  • The final installation picture. Because of how the stock pipe behind the old muffler had so little to use, and we had to use an adapter, we had to have the Magnaflow stick out at an angle. Actually, I like how it looks.
  • Close up of the muffler. You can also see the custom hanger that my friend made to have it sit up in the stock rubber hangers up above.
  • Angle shot of the muffler.
  • Further away angle shot of the muffler.

Nah magnaflow's are stainless steel...they hold up to the heat. No issues whatsoever, but the glass pack that i had put on is useless now

And, my video is now uploaded.

Sorry for the staticy sound, my little digital camcorder is a pain when it comes to distorting sound with loud noises.

This is the best I can offer for now until my friend converts the video from his camcorder.

Hard to tell the actual exhaust note. Is it super super deep or is that because of the distortion?

Sounds good besides the static. If you did make another video, have the camera closer to the exhaust with the mic pointed in the same direction (with exhaust). Often gets less static that way.

It's a piece of **** $150 HD camcorder. Having the camera closer to the exhaust will increase the distortion. It's a digital mic, so naturally it will pick up anything. The mic is also tiny, so loud noises such as an exhaust will ruin it. Having it closer will just make it even worse.

My exhaust has a decent burble to it when at low RPMs. No idea how it sounds at higher RPM as I'm just not in the mood to waste gas. Not at the prices we're having now.
