My new cologne

So since I've been driving my RX around daily, I've noticed after driving it I have a pretty good oil smell on me. I can tell it's coming from the exhaust (duh) because when I smell the exhaust, I can smell the burnt oil. Is there anyway to minimize me smelling like oil every time I drive the car? There isn't any interior in the car at all besides floor mats. Would replacing the seals around the tail lights help? Would covering up some holes in the floor help also? I don't mind the oil smell too much, but I would like to at least smell good sometimes and not like I just got done mowing the lawn.

Maybe you should fix the exhaust?

yeah fix the holes, the exhaust will come up thru the floor and rear of the car, even if you don't have exhaust leaks.

That's what I was thinking. I will work on that once I get the new transmission in. Shouldn't be hard at all.

Other common cause is a bad hatch seal, but if you've got open holes anywhere in the back half, that'll do it, too.

Aite, I will do a thorough look over of my back end and spray water at some parts to make sure all the seals are working properly. Thanks for the help guys.

The fact that you don't want to smell like oil means you probably shouldn't own an RX-7. I love the smell personally, one of my favorite things about the car.

I like the smell, haha. It's just that with only being able to drive that car since I have no other cars at the moment, I would like to smell presentable in public, and at work. Or at least have the smell to a minimum. I don't mind the smell at all, I personally think it's a great smell, I just want to not have people tell me I don't smell good.

I find it weird that while people following me have mentioned that my car stinks, but no one has ever said that I do after getting out of the car. I also can't even tell that it smells bad. I guess I'm just used to it.

i only smell bad if i stand behind it for a few seconds, or if i've been working on it. but the first time i ever let my girlfriend drive it over night, she came back to my place that morning and smelled just like it, of course it just turned me on more than bothered me then she walked behind the car as it was warming up bent over beside the exhaust, sniffed it and said "MMMMMMMM, it's gonna be a good day"
