Most amazing little car I have ever owned!

Hey guys (and gals),

My 84 GS has been sitting for over 8 months! When the car stopped running there was a small fire involved - the fire department came and hosed down the engine bay! Needless to say I was very upset.
I did not know if the little car would ever run again. Not knowing what the fire had damaged OR if the blast of water had ruined the engine or any other parts under the hood.
SO IT SAT!

I finally got the time to start doing some work to it a week ago. I started to look at the different options (fix it or sell it). I decided to buy a battery so I could check some of the electrical and get an idea of how bad the damage was. Something told me to try and start the car....

I couldent belive that it started right up! I have scoped out all the different issues and it looks like it just needs some breaks a master cyl. and slave cyl.

Im amazed!

They are definitely amazing little cars. What was the original cause of the fire?

probably oxidation of a flamable material, though one can never be sure.

I keep those boat / jet ski extinguisher in each vehicle. You need to inspect all your fuel and vac lines.

Also I'd put fresh fuel in it and a new fuel filter, change the oil, etc

Could of been debris on the exhaust. There are a couple of trouble hoses and also the fuel hoses start cracking after 20 years of so. The trouble hoses, if you look at Mazdatrix they give info on the ones that normally need to be looked at / replaced.
