Mazda Crush Washers and you

As part of our trying to figure out how Mazda fasteners are sized, we have run across an easy one, crush washers.

the Mazda sample number, 9956-41-400, decodes like this
9956 = crush washer
4 = Material, 4 = Aluminum, 2 = Copper
1400 = ID in mm, so 14 is 14mm. the sizes go from 6mm to 22mm.

so some samples, the transmission uses an 18mm washer, so 9956-41-800 is an 18mm aluminum washer, 9956-21-800 is copper.
the oil drain plug is 14mm, 9956-41-400, in aluminum, 9956-21-400 in copper.

its kind of nice because the part number tells you the size, or the size tells you the part number

It's nice when engineer's actually use common sense to devise things. I have a question. If a 1-400 = 14mm ID and 1-800 is 18mm, then would a 1-000 be 10mm and 0-800 be 8mm?

yep, that is exactly right.

so 9956-20-800 is an 8mm Copper washer, 9956-21-600 is a 16mm aluminum washer.

It does make a lot of sense now. Will definitely help because I need some new slave cylinder hose crush washers!
