that LS symbol is indeed a leather sport. Only a certain amount were made. Does your car have brown leather interior by chance?

"Low Speed." You should trade the car for a faster one.

In essence, your girlfriend is right. LS or "Leather Sport" is a trim package Mazda offered on a select number of vehicles beginning in 1980. It included leather seats, steering wheel and shift ****. If you were to look in the special model "sticky thread" at the top of this section, you'll see more information on LS's. Basically they built 2500 total in 1980 with White, Black and Gold exterior color choices. All LS interiors that year were brown.

From the picture, it looks like your car is a 1980 with aftermarket add no’s. Do you have the original waffles or spare? They should be painted gold, and mounted with RWL Bridgestone tires, another part of the trim package making them different than the standard S and GS models. As an LS, it's probably worth more now in stock condition but hey, as long as you love her the way she is, it’s all good. You’re a member of the SA fraternity.

I feel ya. There's a similar event on the west coast called Sevenstock. It's about 400miles away from my house.

is the carpet in your car faded or is it just the lighting making it look lighter than it is? Reason I ask is I'm trying to determine the correct shade for my 80 ls but under the seats and console my carpet is really brown like a hershey bar. Just courious, thanks

that's a nice LS! the seats are period correct Recaro's and the steering wheel looks to be from a Mitsubishi Starion. the LS is indeed a wonderful car and as mentioned above a rare SA. in original guise they were quite elegant. here are some pics of my old 80 LS that was an all original car:

My 83 came with the 'leather spoiler' which a PO cut about a 12 inch section from the middle to screw a 3rd brake light. SMH.

Anybody want 2 parts of a spoiler let know - its useless.
