lowering a 1982 rx7?

A 1982 RX-7 in 2017 is already significantly lowered.
Your best bet is to get a set of Racing Beat lowering springs. They will actually make the car sit higher, because the stock springs sag a lot. This is a good thing, because the rear suspension does not tolerate being lowered.

I have the original shocks and springs on one and new stock springs and shocks on the other. The older set up sits a little lower and rides great and as good as the new stock set up. I should have bought the Racing Beat springs instead of the new stock springs. The car is not level. I think the RB springs will be of higher quality.

RX-7s are not level because the jigs that held the stampings together for welding were crooked. All RX-7s sit down on the left.
It doesn't help that everything is on the left side of the car, but even after you balance it back out, they will sit lower on the left.

I didn't know that. My other 84 is also low on the left but it's not noticeable at all unless you measure tire to fender .Nothing compared to the SE. Better springs would take to the level of my GSL probably but I like the ride so I may as well not spend the money. Thx

A long time ago when i was a lot younger and these cars were new(as in under warranty),did large #s of alignments to address tire wear,handling abnormalities,repairs after accidents and just pia customers that obsessed about their cars ride height and how it sat. peejay is exactly right on reason for the low/left complaint and some cars were noticeably worse than others. Mazda had a strut shim available that wasn't general knowledge at that time that could be used to rectify this condition somewhat. On some cars i stacked2,3,sometimes 4 of these shims on top of left side strut mount to bring car up to ride height of other side of car. Still have a handful of them wired together in one of my toolboxes that i kept oe nuts & bolts,clips and brackets off of cars a/c was installed in etc,for when needed for replacing something dropped/lost.

At least I know I'm not insane now. Mines always been low on the drivers side.
