Looking at First Gens

I've been looking at buying a first gen to build into a nice summer fun car. I have a line on an 83 for $300. It has some issues butI would just like to know what you guys think is reasonable for prices.

Even as a parts car. $300.00 is a good buy.

I paid $350 plus towing for an '83 GSL with a dead motor and a spare core, and I consider that an awesome deal. I also recently paid $300 for a nice S + GSL diff rolling shell with no engine, trans, or radiator.

If that one is complete (or even mostly complete) and the body is in reasonable shape, that's a steal. Get it. Just make sure the bin rust is manageable.

as stated, $300 is more than fair for an FB. you'll find that with most SA/FB's you'll have an issue or two. it happens with 20+yr old cars but thats what makes them fun and exciting! post some pics if you can!

I got some info on this 83.

It had been sitting for a few years and had bad gas in the tank. The guy who has it now drained the tank and put new gas in it and it started and ran. The he parked it for month and it wouldn't start so he is selling it.

Buy it. That price is a steal.
After sitting for a while they can be a pain to start even if there is nothing wrong with it.
I got my '79 towed home because it "couldn't start" after a year of sitting but after some trickes of the trade I got it started and hads been my DD since.

I paid $350 for mine with a warped engine. $700 for an engine and a weekend of beer and help from my Dad we got her going. Her maiden voyage was a trip to the Florida state line for more beer...LOL (Counties here are dry on Sunday) 10 years later I bought a donor car on ebay for $250, drove it for 2 years and recently she donated her organs to the first one. Somehow it all evens out...

I got my 82 for... nothing! It had a lot of issues so he just gave it to me. A guy should be stopping by with a first gen parts car for a $100 bucks anyday now.
