10lbs of s@#t in a 5lb sack

Im 6'2 300 and i was wondering about other tall/big fb owners, how do you fit in your car and have you done anything to make more room. I was thinking about new seats but i dont know how much that'll help.

6'2" 280#"s here. I fit better in my 81 with fc highback seats than my stock GSL-SE. I have plenty of legroom in both, its just that the GSL-SE seats seem to sit up higher. I definatly fit better in an FB than a FC.

A smaller sterring wheel might give you a little more leg room too.

6'1", 250 here. With the stock steering wheel, I was having trouble getting in and out. My legs were being squished between the wheel and the seat. I put in a Grant GT wheel and have no problems in or out. Only complaint I have is the E-brake always pressing into the side of my leg.

Oh yeah, I wear a size 15 shoe. Heel/toe is more like inside of right foot, brake; outside of right foot, gas. Head room is no problem and I don't have the seat leaning all the way back. It is slid all the way back though.

I'm 6'-3" and 210, I have FC seats (sit lower than stock 83) a smaller Momo steering wheel (also dished) and a 60mm steering wheel spacer to bring the wheel closer to me. The dished wheel combined with the spacer gives me all the knee room I need, my legs never hit the wheel anymore.... I still have a inch or two of headroom as well.

Too Big for an SE

At 6'4" and 240lbs. same problem as above. Still trying to source a 320mm Grant or Momo up here, but question is, will '83 seats bolt directly into my '85 SE's (both with leather) without moding rails? I have heard FC seats sit lower than FB's, yet above post says '83 seats give more room than his GSL SE.

Can rails be re-drilled to push seats further back (didn't have time to check myself between purchase, licensing and storing)? And lastly, anyone venture on whether cloth sits lower than leather? May have to start looking for some new seats. (Styx are you reading?)

They should bolt right in just like FC seats, and unless you somehow modify the storage bin frame you can't really go any father back with the seats, they hit the bins. The momo I have is a 350mm wheel and it is plenty small enough. You guys should consider a spacer or at least a dished wheel, brining the wheel closer to you gives us more room for our long chicken legs!

Jeezus you did recall correctly about the 300lb passenger capacity.

As well you can fab up some different seat rails to sit a bit lower or throw some fc seats in there

You mean total capacity for our cars is 300lbs? 150 per person in each seat? Or 75 per person if you got tiny people in the rear seats.??

Yes indeed. So pretty much if ur an average weight (170lbs) you can take yourself and a skinny gf or friend. Proper sports cars are meant for small people i guess....

My problems height wise. Im already buying a momo apache wheel which will clear leg room but now its either new shorter seats or no headliner.

i think as someone already stated the fc seats sit a bit lower. Lean back more? haha.

Could probably fab some mounting plate for the rails so it sits like an inch lower becase they raise the seat a bit.

whell i had my brother email me a pic with the passenger seat out and it looks like those 2 horizontal pieces welded to the car that the rails ride on can be cut out and lower the seat abot 1-2 inch wich will give me plenty of head room. I'll just drill some holes in the floor and mount the seats to it .with some momo seats it'll be a lot lower so i think i figured it out. ha ha a big man can fit in a tiny *** car!

just so you know the passenger side mount is different from the driver side because it has to clear the transmission mount (or something) but it is different
