Lets see your carburetors.

Side drafts are just the coolest looking carb setup IMO. Maybe not the best... Pic your carb setup and list tune. Characteristics...
48 DHLA just rebuilt. RB setup for 13b. Good daily, lumpy idle @1k, a little jerky, (lightweight flywheel) Throttle response is instant, great sound and power@ WOT, Pulls strong and evenly.. Shi* gas millage.. Low torque below 2500...

Here you go, my Dell setup:

Some things have changed since these were taken. The TFI coils are now mounted in the stock location
and the alternator is back on top but still keeping the 2G strut bar thats there.

48IDA on a P port 12A, i have to say i really like the carb a LOT, it delivers amazingly good drivability, and its consistent!

it pulls like a truck, gas mileage is better than you (or me) would expect.

Classic edelbrock. Idles and runs like a champ but sucks fuel like a sob when you hammer down.

Just got this Weber 45 DCOE w/Lake Cities short manifold on. Choke hasn't been hooked up (has a weird linkage that I'm still puzzling out). This is on my stock port 12A running stock ignition, fuel pump, and a Racing Beat Road Race header w/street port exhaust. Once we got it started, it idled high, but pulled like a train from 2500 RPM up. Throttle response was instant. The manifold places the trumpets about 1-1/2" away from the shock tower, so no room for the stock air cleaner. I have some filter caps for them to keep debris out. With the trumpets so close to the shock tower, the car sounds like a schnauzer with an attitude problem when I rev it up.

Still working out the bugs...doesn't like starting and it idled high when it did. I just replaced the old IM->carb gasket and installed an FPR this evening to see where I'm at with fuel pressure. I may replace the fuel pump with a Mallory that I have on the shelf soon.

Its the Mazdaspeed/factory race bar. You can get it through the Mazda Motorsports Race sponsorship, and I thought Mazdatrix used to carry it...

BC Simple but effective

My 83 GSL with 4 port 13b motor ,modded Nikki carb: mechanical secondaries, maxed out jets. Still needs greater airflow

placd1, that's when you make the venturis bigger to increase the airflow. This will also match your jets better.

Notice the gap between primary booster venturis and main venturi in this hogged out Nikki.

Now look at this typical stripped but otherwise stock Nikki. The gap is tiny.

Increasing jet size on this carb would be fruitless because it can't take in any more air than stock (300ish CFM).

Now compare with the huge gap above. That carb has much bigger jets to match the increased air flow. In fact I think I may have to up the jets even more since I chopped off the booster supports recently which increase air flow even more. The carb just doesn't have the same punch it used to on these current jets. Get this, they are something like 135 primary and 175 secondary. I might need 140 pri and 180 sec now. Gotta test with a wideband to know for sure.

When i still had the Dellorto:

Was not jetted right, ran WAY fat.

lwrobins - do you have your vacuum advance hooked up? I noticed my idle and low rpm range become WAY smoother when I hooked mine back up.

Thanks Jeff20B. The venturis have already been enlarged to compliment the maximum sized jets.I'll remove my filter and take and post a pic of the venturis later. One thing I didn't mention is that the 13b is a half bridgeport I simply run out of breath when I hit +6500 rpm
