Lenon's Law

California Senate Bill (SB) 712 has passed the senate and goes to the assembly now,if it's passed it will exempt cars thirty-five years old, or older from smog requirements if it has an "assigned" special identifying plate identifying it as an "historical" vehicle and it's "insured" as a "collector" motor vehicle.

Error, should be "Leno's Law," not Lenon's law, I guess cataract surgery doesn't fix everything.

By the time the Sacramento State House gets done with it Lenin's Law will likely be correct.

we're all cautiously optimistic, its a small step in the right direction.
the other thing that might happen is that the CARB looses its exemption, and in this case nobody really knows what that would look like (CA would not have the authority to do smog checks, except for the Federally mandated ones)

Theres probably a huge lobby representing emssions testers that will make sure that doesn't happen. It would be cool though. I feel for you Kali folks, I'm amazed anyone still does car stuff there at all.

that is kind of the big picture thing. we're subsidizing something, which is good, but its totally pointless, which isn't.
