Killing the Environment One Rotary at a Time

So I go to the library on the was home after work yesterday. As I'm driving through the parking lot looking for a spot there is the woman standing by her car which is an early '90s Subaru wagon.

I park the car and head for the door and the same woman is standing by the door waiting for me. I'm thinking WTF.

She says with an attitude, "did you know that your car burns oil?"
I say, "it doesn't, that is just the way these cars smell."
She says, "it smells like it does."
I say, "my car has a new motor and it runs fine so whatever."
She then mumbles something and storms off.

I go into the library and get my holds, etc. Go back out and get in my car and back out. As I'm backing out guess who is standing behind me but the same dumb woman. I then load the motor up and floor it to let out a nice big cloud of smoke at the woman. I can see her look of death on her face. haha it was great.

I love the look on people's faces when I casually mention that I have to top off the oil with my car. They're all, "uhh dude, its bad to be burning oil...." and I just look at them and go, "WTF are you smoking? My engine burns oil normally, next thing you're gonna tell me is my engine has valves!" Then they have this 'huh?' look on their face, its great!

Haha. When I lived in Ann Arbor, I was sitting at a stoplight in my old 82. RB 465, RB SP, 2k rpm idle, ran rich, MSD's, etc. etc. The guy next to me at the stoplight was in a Prius. He rolled down his window and said "Your car smells." My response: "Ya, so?" He went "really bad." I shrugged and revved my engine at him. He rolled up his window.

I know you guys are having fun but don't you think you are being immature and irresponsible?

Rotaries are one thing, deliberately polluting the environment and bragging about it is just plain stupid. If you don't care about your own health and environment, you might at least think about your children and their children, if that doesn't stretch the imagination too much.

Common guys, the rap on rotaries already is already a problem for us, let's not make it worse. Keep your cars tuned and if you are spewing smoke like an old truck get it fixed!

^word, if it is all in fun and games thats cool, but to deliherately be as much of a pollutant as possible and even pride yourself on it is radically immoral.

I often feel like a hipocrite-I'm a strong proponent of being environmentally friendly yet I drive a emissionless and catless rx7...

Rotary's don't really pollute that much. Mine stinks like hell yet I passed smog (Legally) with flying colors.

I think it just depends on the car, my aunts hemi durango smelt pretty bad, another family members subaru you could be right next to the tail pipes and not smell anything.

Just my thought, the op's situation was funny though

no smoke here, just the occasional bad smell that comes and goes. i don't brag about it either, but plain and honest i don't care. sure we can do a lot better and save our planet and all that good boring ****, make it better for my possible future kids. but i try to follow the rules of nature and everyone knows that everything leads to a greater level of entropy (disorder). so therefore i'm actually contributing to nature lol.

i think of this matter as when a child is being constructed lol. our cells aren't used to consuming fat, but when mom takes the bite out of that cake, our cells go crazy and want more because its good....in other words older generations created this by giving us a taste. we always want more.

all jokes aside, i do try to do my best, i don't worry about cars because it has been "documented" that cattle and animals are more responsible for the greenhouse effect. therefore i say **** peta. but also support them by eating shmeat!!!

That lady scares me, if she has nothing better to do then demonize your car, and stalk you, then what will she do in her 'free' time to remove your rotary or give you hell.
She is a socio-pathic monster unidentified because of the guise of 'Save the Earth' .. "for the children" .. media support.. and unstable enough to push you with her belief that the 'world she lives in' supports her beliefs and will endeavor to support her in her assault on you/yours.
I presume, she (in her mind) has the higher moral ground and see's your character as an 'evil' that needs to be oppressed. This is the kind of mental illness that we need to get on books, diagnosed, and fixed, before it destroys US all with its knee jerk auto immune responses.
Give me a decent paying mildly pollutin factory job please....

This is blatantly wrong. Please do research before posting mis-information. They do contribute, but vehicles are a major source of CO2. If you want me to, I can dig up numbers from either my Environmental Econ class or my Energy Econ class.

I don't try and kill the environment. However, I'm not going to go out of my way and not enjoy my car. I put about 3k on it per year, so I figure that I put out fewer emissions than the douche that drives a H2 to work every day. I'd venture a guess that I put out about as much in one year as someone that drives a Prius a considerable distance to work every day (40+ miles each way), because of how few miles I put on my 7 every year.
