^^Wow, beautiful, and pristine!!

So, 10th anniversary was the 10th anniversary of "what" for Mazda in 1980? Possibly the first rotary imported into the US (1970 R100)?

I believe 1980 marked the 10th anniversary of being in the NA market. This color scheme and badging was applied to what's believed to be 8000 vehicles spread across different models. (GLC, 626, RX-7) The exact number of each is not known. A basic GS model, finished in Renaissance Red, with special pin stripes and seats and an anniversary medallion with the Roman numeral "X". Also known as 10th A/E editions. (10th Anniversary Edition).

This edition, along with the 1980 LS, 1979 Limited and 1983 Chateau Silver Limited Editions are the "special model" 1st gen RX-7's. All mostly cosmetic packaged upgrades produced in limited numbers.

The red wheelcaps are a nice touch on the black waffles.

The air vents were 3D printed. It was put out there on Facebook early last year so I jumped on it!

Thanks for the comments. When I was thinking about painting the centercaps I decided the contrast with the red the best route.

sup guys. long story short I found this 79sa LE on craigslist for $450
got it home, had an old school 13b 4port in it with a 48dellorto, front stat bearing was cracked so I got it running but off rear rotor only... front compression was being lost through the stat gear and blowing down into the oil pan so when I gave it gas it would blow the dipstick out haha
This is my gf's car btw, so I was nice and gave her my '85 gs' engine (stock 12a with 115k)
been running well with a kamei air dam, 36 dcd's and RB strut bar but I just had the opportunity to pick up a pineapple racing s4 na Pport engine with 3k miles on it for a steal of a price! so i'll be swapping that in her's in a few weeks with a 48ida. (my 85 has a Frankenstein 4port 13b half bridge already also with 48ida)
So otherwise, I just got t3 coilovers for my car so her's will also be getting my GC front suspension and hers is sitting on RB spings in the rear
She has 85 front suspension and brakes (yeah takes away from the SA factor but the sa brakes are dangerous)
has an 83 (not sure if big axle or small) GSL rear in it with the 3.90 lsd
and currently she has the driver seat out of my 85 in her's. had a backseat that came with it but couldn't be installed bc previous owner welded in supports where the seats would sit down in, so I sold em for good profit

the paint cleans up nice in some areas and is chipping in others

oh not pictured but I did just install an "Rx-7" rear panel w/top piece that goes between the tail lights. the sideskirts are recognizable but the rear bumper is from the pacifica kit I believe? had to relocate the tag and build a bracket and light for the tag off the rear tow hook

some pics below. hope to be autoXing her's and mine throughout 2017

Alright, now that I've got your attention, hear my plea!

Hey guys, I've been trying to fix my car for a very long while now, it's been quite the hassle. I need to replace my differential but it seems virtually impossible for me to find a replacement that I can just swap right in. It doesn't help that that with school I don't get that much time either to be with my car and work on it.

But now for your expertise!

Is it true that all of the differentials 83 and later won't work without a new driveshaft? Because I've been able to find an 85 in a decent price range and that's it. Also for lsds, I've been trying to find an 81-83 one to swap in but they're nowhere to be found! Are there any other options for us that let us just swap the third member (same axle shafts/axles, same drive shaft, etc.) I've been asking around and spamming questions for a while now but I've got nowhere else to go

The most important thing I want to ask is prices. How much should I be expecting to pay for a normal open and a normal lsd? I originally saw open diffs going for like $80 on the forums but the people parting out near me are asking way more for the same parts.

Thanks guys!
