Glad to have you back. The dealers offered back seat kits for the American versions. One of my friends has a '82 with a back seat. Maybe he will see this thread and chime in.

So the back seats are pretty uncommon?

I would probably feel the same way but i've got two babies now so the back seat will be more convenient.

well babies is about all you can fit back there anyways lol, yes the backseats are very uncommon, but are not missed at all, its not different from having the bins, you could take off the lids and put the babies in there i kid i kid. lol, but hopefully you get the idea.

So basically it'll be perfect for toting the kids around but it'd be cruel to stuff a couple of my buddies back there.

A couple? Good luck. You might get one adult male back there without a huge fuss, but two... well they better be really close friends. For babies they would work, but once they get old enough to dangle their legs over the seat it'll be time for something with Civic legroom.

Back seats were in all the Aussie spec versions and in some of the Japan spec too.

The back seat is completely useless for putting an adult in.

I'm about 1.8m tall and for me to drive the car, the back of the front seat, rests against the front of the rear seat. So there is no way in hell your gonna get an adult in there.

Most of us ditch the rear seat and make our own custom storage or battery boxes to go in there instead.

Yeah my wife has a 98 isuzu trooper so that'll be our primary family vehicle.

Here's some more pics of the car its got over 200k miles but apparently still runs great and is still in really good shape (which from what i understand is rare for a rotory). I love the black interior cuz it reminds me of an old muscle car.
