Glad to hear it was so easy. I really need to do something with that website soon.

To those who pre-ordered: I will ship them the morning after I get the calendars in!

Thanks everyone!

So the calendars arrived yesterday and they look great!

Packed them all up, went to ship them, and the stock used this year must be heavier than last as shipping went up from $3 to roughly $6 each. Insane. I am not charging this by the way, just stating the new shipping rates.

I am going to be re-packing them either tonight or tomorrow morning to try and save some weight.

I will post when they are repacked and on their way, which will be tomorrow afternoon.

Thanks!
Chris

Chris,

What is the size/weight? Under 1st class mail, you can go 13oz, large envelope, for $3.28.

If you could make a flat-rate envelope work (12.5x9.5), those run $4.95 (or like $4.70 online).

I also thought that maybe you could send via media mail (used for books, recordings, educational materials, etc.), but I don't know if these apply. The media rate is a flat rate of like $2.40 for 1 pound. However, it is only good for shipping certain items and can be slow (it is a deferred service).

Yeah Chris,
I also researched this out and gsl-seaddict is 100% right. This would be a much cheaper way to ship the calendars for you. I know you don't do them for profit, and those of us that are buying the calendars are getting them because we love the work you put into them. So here's some more work I did to try and help, I hope it aids you in your shipping quest. I know it can be terrible because I do a lot of eBay selling and it gets really old, so here's some research.

RATES: FIGURED AT 2lb. - SHIPPED FROM 14614 ROCHESTER NY TO 90210 BEVERLY HILLS CALIFORNIA (due to them being on opposite ends of the continental US)

$2.41 paid at Post Office - Media Mail (packaged by you and any size).
$4.75 paid online - Priority Mail Flat Rate Envelope 12 1/2" by 9 1/2".

$13.29 paid online - UPS Ground for comparison's sake. Ouch.

Those are the absolute cheapest rates I can find you from the United States Post Office.

I hope this helped Chris,
Austin

I know that Chris normally packs these so they are bomb-proof, but if you can get 'em under 13 oz, then you can go 1st class. Above 13 oz, the price shoots up (1st class not available). The priority mail envelope would also be great (if they will fit) as you could send multiple calendars for the same price.

I'm not sure if you could get the media mail rate on these or not. I've seen people ship books, DVDs, etc. using media mail, but I'm not sure where these would fall. Media mail is slower, but I know that I wouldn't mind. I'm also willing to send more to cover shipping costs as you shouldn't be stuck with a loss just because the post office wants more $$$.

I'd also be fine sending more money to cover the added shipping.

Thanks for wanting to help guys, its appreciated.

This may sound stupid, but I went out and bought a scale today that measures in Ounces so I can see what is so different from last year.

Here is what I found:

Each calendar weighs 4.5-4.6oz
Each padded envelope weighs 4.4-4.9oz
The letter/envelope weighs .4-.5oz

One calendar, old style padded envelope, letter, and letter envelope come to 9.4-9.9oz

Two calendars is where the trouble lies. Because of the varying padded envelope (up to .5oz difference) weight, this throws it above 13oz.

Its strange as last year I had all that plus the foam wrapping.

I dont know if it is the new box of padded envelopes or what, but I will be buying the air-padded ones next year when they go on clearance. Those bad boys weigh 1.8oz!

Now that I know, they will all be going out Monday. Sorry about the delay!
