The correct answer is of course a 13b or 20b, but lets stick to piston motors. It seems everyone goes with the same ol' lame V8 swap. Any creative ideas?

I'd go with a N/A K20. Sick motors with alot of potential.

Hasselgren 4AG. 240 N/A HP, 11K RPM rev limit. They only cost about $50K. It's the engine they use in the Toyota Atlantic Series.

ide do several options, mostly sticking w 4 cylinders for weight balance
1) BEAMS 3SGE w/ the 6 speed trans from an Altezza. 210hp and decent strength in the bottom end
2) F20C (early S2K motor) chosen specifically for a higher redline
3) FJ20-ET, another legendarily strong engine from nissan based on racing engines. similar to the RB's story and a super stout bottom end IE) f#ck the SR20
4) lastly, a V6, nissans VR38DETT from teh new GT-R.....u know why

homemade 12at can be awesome. i think rotary engines are the only real way to go for an rx7. without one, it loses almost all of its character and becomes something else, A hybrid~! >.<

Definately. My favourite non rotary motor, but I wasn't too sure how well they could fit in an FB. Besides, I don't think the sound would match the look of the car.

377 smallblock built to rev to the moon (for a v8, 7000-8000rpm) with kensler/hilborn style EFI, with a rectangle cut in the hood the velocity stacks peek out of.

orrrrrrrrrrr

one of those hayabusa v8's, those go good with anything.

All you guys wo say KA, good luck. What tranny do you expect to use? That would be one hell of a swap.

Here you go:

LSX, 2jz, 1jz, 4G63, SR20DET

^^ i would only do it if I HAD to, like if rotaries had fallen off the face of the earth.

but it's already been done before. . . https://www.rx7club.com/other-engine-conversions-non-v-8-118/ze-rx7-ka-ts-evolution-793638/

Ford 2.3T (Mostly because I have one laying around )
BMW S70/2 (Might as well get the best piston engine ever made, I can dream!)

My first choice, however, would be a PP 20B with a 250 shot of spray.

If I *Had* to do it, it'd be the 4 cylinder out of Gordon Monsen's (gmonsen) E30M3. SILLY!

I reject your conditions and insert my engine swap choice anyway

13B built with:
- S5 TII Irons
- S4 N/A Rotor Housings
- S5 N/A Rotors
- Rx8 E-shaft and Stat Gears
- -SE Oil Pan
- 12a Front Cover and mech OMP
- 2-stroke resivoir, OMP set to 100% all the time
- Adapter for my Sterling
- "Thermal Pellet"
- Street Ported, Rotors Balanced and Clearanced

That pretty much covers it from what I can remember off the top of my head. People are undoubtedly wondering about the Sterling. Yes, I want to build that engine, put a Sterling on it and Dyno tune it because I think the Sterling can do very well on that platform and I aim to prove it (plus it makes it a plug-and-play swap for me)

REW with S5 rotating assembly and streetport to the max. I chose REW so in case I go turbo, I dont have to worry about spending $$$ on a guru stud kit

Have you actually seen a full blown streetported TII plates? sterling carb is too small for it.

okay, i'll play, too even though i recognize that this is pointless ...

my real answer is: any '89+ 13B Turbo engine, streetported and built with 9.7s and 9.7s.

my answer within your parameters is a toss-up between the VG30DETT and 3SGTE - either one built heavy with Garrett GT platforms.

my "sky-is-the-limit"-answer is: current model Audi S8 engine with a custom tranny setup.
