I hate the PO right now!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just got a brand new racing beat power pulse muffler. I was so excited and I went under the car looking to see what bolt size I need to disconnect the stock muffler....... the PO welded it to the straight pipe! No flange!!!!!!! Now I gotta get this burnt out piece of crap cut off and get a new flange welded to the straight pipe. I am so pissed off right now. How much would this cost to get done?

You might be able to find a used intermediate pipe for not too much money, if the PO didn't mess with the front flange on the intermediate pipe you can just swap another one in.

But if the PO also fabricated the front flange you'll need a welder to complete the butchery.

I'm with Ray. See if you can find a used center pipe that is in decent shape. Might cost about the same as having someone weld on a new exhaust flange for you. Also, it's going to be a pain to make sure that the centerpipe is the same length after it has been hacked up. Even if you put a new flange on it, chances are that it's going to cause your muffler to fit further inside the bumper than normal.

You can also get a new centerpipe from NAPA for not too much. Probably has a liftetime warranty, and will ensure a proper fitment.

Good luck,
Jamie

I'd need the RB racing piece because I have an RB header, a 2 into 1 collector, then a catless straight pipe. I was hoping to add this muffler to the system but I didn't even htink that it was going to be done so half-assed beforehand.

muffler shop would probably cut the old one off and weld the new one on for about $40

yep.

and you should have looked under the car first, you'd still be pissed, but at least you'd know you need to go to the muffler shop

not sure if you're interested, i have a spare intermediate pipe from my parts car.

Check out the thread in my sig... there's a pic of it... it's the same style as the one standing up by itself on the ground in one of those pics...

Good luck, the muffler shop would probably be the most easy.

Thanks, I'll probably just repeat what the PO did and weld the muffler on the pipe. I just wonder why the PO went RB header and collector and then put it into a straight pipe all to feed into (and blowout) the stock muffler. Either way, the RB piece should stand up to the abuse better.

Should not cost that much to get an exhaust shop to do it. That sounds like just one hour labor. Give us a sound clip when you get it done sounds like a nice rig.

Some shops don't like to work on exhaust systems if they aren't stock, especially if the cats have been removed. But since your work is on the cat back section they might not have a problem.

If you are in the Atlanta area you should stop by our OGTA meeting next Tuesday evening, July 8th. There's a thread on it in the SE forums section.

That car looks and sounds just like my car. Bring it on down Tuesday and we'll get some twin pics.

Definatly sounds better with the muffler fixed.

Yeah, I felt like a ricer, not really though cause I didn't mean for it to sound like that and I had just bought it, but rather I felt like everyone else perceived me as a ricer.
