Ok guys, I get it. You think the the seller is delusional in pricing his car. What I don't get is why you all have to try and outdo each other in how cheap you got your's for. Is that really something to be proud of?

Perhaps you guys are all young and just starting out in life, still in school, still at home so money's tight. That's fine, I respect your dedication to the Fb even more. I was in 2nd year university when my Dad bought the Fb in 1985 and then when I finished school six years later he gave it to me. It took me another 5 years before I spent any real money restoring the car and upgrading it. I didn't even turbo it until I was 37. I finally put in a decent stereo system when I was 40!

So you should all be happy that people are asking real money for these cars and even happier that some pristine low mileage examples are actually selling on eBay in the mid teens. There's no shame in buying a beater Fb for $500 but don't you want the selling price one day to reflect all that hard work you spent in bringing her back to life?

Seller's Remorse = Buyer's Rejoice, & vice versa, I guess.

Look at the ads in this thread...not ebay.

I don't have a problem with a low miles gsl se in pristine condition going for 10k, or a super clean SA anniversary ed for the same...but when you start to inflate the values of base model cars that are not that rare and are in need of repair and need a "little body"...you will soon see beaters for prices that are ridiculous. Then its "restorable" cars for obsene prices. The first gen cars were famous and popular because they offer great fun for the dollar paid, they really weren't exceptional in any other regard...it was their forgiving quality. Its probablly the reason that us first gen owners are such cheapskates to this day Just troll around the classifieds if you don't believe me. (first gen section) Ask any of the local rotary tuner shops, when was the last time they did an "all out" build on a carb 12a???? Prob 20 years ago because we are all in our garages and basements doing them ourselves today!!!

Lets save the high dollar values for the ltd edition cars and not some run of the mill fb with gullwing doors and a aftermarket set of rims. just my $.02!

Yup, seems to be happening. Prices might upswing, they might not. The only good thing I see with increasing value for us is reproduction parts come available...and since the majority of the parts we have to work with are used and 30 years old, that side of the "game" might help us, but will kill off the "cheap" part of these cars. I watched the same thing happen with first gen camaros (granted on a much larger scale). You used to could pick up a "driver" 69 camaro for 2-3k....now you cant buy a rusted out hulk for 2-3k....but you can get 99.9% of the parts on the car brand new....its a two edged sword...personally, I like it sorta like it is...while we can still scrounge parts that is.....

Amen. I have catalogs upon catalogs for Mustangs, Camaros, Firebirds, Chevelles, etc.... One catalog for FB's (Black Dragon). I don't mind scrounging for parts, it is entertaining and a teaching experience for me and other rotary owners. I've learned that there are parts that are worth more than others, some need to be bought sight unseen, and some need to be picked up no matter what. I kick myself to this day that I didn't take an entire FB that was in a junkyard last summer. I was the first one to touch it, and I was new to the rotary sport. Live and learn I guess
