i bought a new car..and its a rotary..

i know its not a first gen, which is what i've always owned for years...but its a rotary none the less. today i picked up my first RX-8. its almost exactly what i wanted. i really wanted the touring package, but took the sport because it had basically everything i wanted, save for the moonroof...but i can live without that. its brilliant black, has the wonderful 6spd, black cloth interior, and rear spoiler. mileage is 30K. car was $12,900. so far, no known problems. i am very pleased with the car. i've waited SOOO long to own an RX-8 and i couldnt be happier. here's one pic from my phone that i took. i'll post more tomorrow when i can take pics in the daylight. nearly all of my 7's are for sale..save for my 80 LS and my ocean blue 85 GS...i just have too many cars at this point and the expense is killing me. at any rate, here's the pic i snapped:

They look better used than new, maybe eventually they will have the appeal of a 1st gen 7.

I'll bet those 8s drive nicely but I don't understand why every time I see one on the road I'm going by it.

Nice find!

Ray, i dont think the 8 will ever have the sex appeal of an SA or FB. the first gens are my one true love and i'm cheating on them with the FE. the 8 drives superbly well and is a blast. its nice having a rotary with awarranty, lol. i needed something with 4 seats for the wife and kids..and i couldnt sway from the rotary.. the reason that you're passing the 8's is because the vast majority of the 8 buyers buy the car for image rather than being a rotary enthusiest and thus drive like vaginas.

Ian, the deal i think was very good. i'm lucky to have the car. i think because of the weather (snow) and the economy, the car was priced to sell quickly. i just happened to be in the right place at the right time...here's how it happened: i was xmas shopping for my wife and kids yesterday with a good friend of mine. we shopped and then went to applebees for a bite to eat. well with dinner i hadd a few beers..i really dont drink soa couple big beers made me loose, lol. subesequently i went to the mazda dealer to check out the 8's and well...today i bought the car. i drove it yesterday, buyt the car had to meet the approval of my wife and daughter.

Very Nice!! You are living the dream. That's what I want for a Daily driver (with a Single Turbo Cosmo RE engine).

That, or a Lexus IS-F.

Oh man that's a hell of a deal and great miles for 05! I test drove and 07 and I loved it to death. Handled very well while being super smooth. The 6-Speed was pretty great, not so great with a new driver(I was teaching my buddy Cliff how to drive manual. He tried to downshift from 6th to 4th to accelerate and ended up in 2nd....oops) If it falls thru with me getting an MS3 I'll definitely have my hand at an FE(or SE3P as some reffer)

Good buy . I'm sure you'll love it once you really test its handling . No surprise that its is far more advanced handling car than the 1st gen.

i drive the local mazda dealers crazy here taking every new trade in on their lots for a test drive , but they want a sale so let me do it .

Hmmm, Maybe that will work for the wifey. She wants one too but always looks at price first. Too bad Im almost done building her FC... (check out the 2nd gen section for the build thread)

Ok, no more thread jacking for me lol.

On the other hand, if you get bored you should drive it here and let me try it out.

Don't listen to Ian ...once you do meet up with him..he will club you in the face with an inflatable penguin stuffed with bars of soap...then steal your car while you are knocked unconscious! Ask me how i know

Congrats!

"A rotary with a warranty..." The very concept kind of blows my mind.

i've never owned a warranty with any 7 i've bought so this is a first for me. i've been driving the car ALL day...i cant stay out of it. i figured that i'd give it a rest for a bit. i washed the car earlier and it looks terrible due to the road dirt but i decided to take the pics anyways. here are a few more of the car:

Nearly all new cars are like that... you're lucky to see part of the intake plenum, most of the time. Manufacturers trying to convey a "no user serviceable parts inside!" message.

Beautiful ride, man. You gotta be thrilled.

dude, i'm so happy with this car!!! i cant stay out of it. its in the 20's here and i was just in it listening to cd's!!!

as a note, the engine cover is VERY easially removed. one needs to remove it to check and add oil. there's also a cover for the battery which is nice. i'll grab some shots of the engine with the cover removed later tonight or tomorrow.

RX-8 looks tough in black. I like it alot.
Is that white stuff salt? Keep it clean or it'll end up disintigrating like the truck!

yeah, thats road salt residue. i washed it once today and that crap accumulated from the car wash to the house. they must have really salted the roads. if its nice tomorrow it'll get another bath. i'm going to start keeping it in the garage as soon as my SE swap is done on my 85 GS.

i really love teh black .it was my first choice. velocity red would have been the second choice. brilliant black looks great on the car and it'll look even sharper come summer.

Hey man be careful of those bastard cops (hehehe) while doing all that driving around without a front plate. They LOVE to bust people for that...

yeah, the fuzz can grab you the the lack of a front plate..but no big worries. looks as if my wife is going into labor and is going to give birth to my son today, which i'm very excited about. she's in the bathroom showering in pain and i'm here just relaxing. somethings wrong with that picture but thats the way she wants it. to be left alone for a few and to relax...so more pics of the car may have to wait a day or three..i'll keep you guys updated on her progress

It's growing on me Dave, maybe when the credit card is paid off and the house refinanced I'll take one for a test drive.

That back seat will be a good place to toss the kids in.

Congrats on the new one! (The kid I mean).

And oh yeah, wash the car, ok? You knew when you went with black you were committing to daily car washes.
