Holley Carb on FB 12a?

So I bought a 1980 rx7, previous owner died and gave the car to his son, son knew absolutely nothing about it other than it didn’t run. The guys father put a holley 4 barrel on it (not sure what kind only stamp i saw was holley) i got it to run a little bit but wouldnt idle. my concern is all the original vacuum lines that used to be hooked up to the stock nikki carb are gone. i know the vacuum lines go to solenoids that control fuel and air, so im not sure if the holley does the fuel and air ratio itself or if it needs a rebuild or if i need to find a nikki somewhere to throw on it.

after further research i’ve realized those vacuum lines are for vacuum advance and other things i don’t understand. i’ve seen some threads that say these vacuum lines are detrimental to the engine. i’ve also seen some that say “they’re just for emissions you can just toss them”. i believe there are no vacuum lines at all going to the holley to control vacuum

the carb should be something like 465cfm. if the state u live in doesn't do emissions testing then u won't need all that. vac advance will connect to the nipple on the metering plate between the primary float bowl and the carb body. labeled as ported vacuum in the image.

My engine idles real high and rough and when I try do drop the idle down, it dies. What gives?

You should try and find out which Holley carb the cars has, if it's been sitting for awhile it may need a good cleaning

I run a 600 Brawler
