Holley carb help!

Hey guys, I made the mistake of buying a Holley 1850-14 600 cfm without know what size it was or doing research or anything. I bought an engine off of a fellow rotor head who has 3 80s rx7s. The engine is a 12a and stock port as far as I know. I bought the carb and intake off of him also which he said he used to run on this exact 12a engine. Well, I got everything installed and you already know the carb is flooding the engine. I have it tuned so its drivable but its dumping fuel when I accelerate and trying to die on the idle. Is there any way to downsize the jets so that this will run decent? I've done some digging but haven't found any definite answers or been able to find keys. I have a 1985 Mazda rx7 12a, removed rats nest, DLIDFIS, pretty much stock other than that and the carb.

What's size fuel jets do you have ? That carb should have 2 adjustable idle circuits screws on the primary metering block you may have to adjust them .

I would suggest finding a stock intake manifold and Nikki carb. It will save you a lot of headache and run better too.

welcome to the board.

you will spend much more time enjoying the car if you sell it and get a Nikki setup. you'll also get much more support.

if you choose to do this the hard way, just know that you're in for a rough (and likely expensive) ride. a 600 is too much for a stock port 12A. for reference, you would be better running that on a 13B bridge port. also, if the carburetor is not RB-modified, then you will need to do more than just jetting.
