Smile Hey everyone

I'm new to the site and seeing how I just got an '85 two days ago and couldn't pass it up when i saw it was for sale for 300; I thought I would hit the forums too.

It needs some work, but it definitely has potential.

I've always wanted an rx-7 and it's good to finally be part of the club.

As promised, here she is:

She's going to need some work, but I'm proud of finally owning one.

She's a 1985 12a automatic tranny. [planning on getting her standard soon.]

I'll get some pictures of the inside when I get her cleaned up, I really dislike people who smoke in their vehicles.

Bite me, reaper. I may be 5 days late to your reply but yeah, don't try and pawn the newbie off thinking *I'm* the one who lurks in the shadows with a cloak and scythe.

Welcome Percentage, don't make any threads saying your car is falling apart, wacky'll hear you miles away. He's already bought a rollback truck for the occassion. And, wow, looks like that car can use a little touchup.

Car looks to have lots of potential. I like the pictures with parts, jacks and spray cans all around it. A nice, natural environment for a first gen.

Welcome to the forum, and to the addiction. You realize you can never get away from the first gen.

All those statements are true. You'll have too much fun. It's rare to find an Automatic anymore, but standards are so much more fun LOL

Reminds me of my '83 GSL when I first got it.

Cool, no sunroof or rear wiper. Is it an S or a GS? (Could you get a GS without the rear wiper?) Either way, nice find. Just put a GSL(-SE) rear end in there, and you're golden.

^^Depends on what kinds of fantsy stuff id on the inside. A GS will have some time of electric something(besides fuel door). All my S models have been bare bones. Yeah you can get a GS without a rear wiper

More than likely an S then.

No power windows
No power mirrors
No inside hatch release

and

No Rear wiper

As for the smoking, I can understand, it's just the last owner that really kind of ticked me off. He ripped out the radio trim and broke it trying to install a head unit, and failed so instead he stuck a big ash tray from another car where the trim was and there is ash inside the dash now.

Not to mention him breaking the key off in the hatch cylinder so he was hotwiring the car everyday to start it. I'm lucky to have the car in as good of shape as it is in my opinion. Either way, it's in better hands now and I'm excited to have a cute little project car.

Very nice. I have a pedal set (two actually) from 84/85 GSLs, if you get serious about going to the standard transmission (just pay shipping or stop by one of our OGTA meetings).

But I'd drive it with the auto for awhile first. You hear "automatic" condemnation of the auto trannies, but I know a guy who has one and he likes it.

Welcome to the club!

Ray

Definitely, will let you know. Thanks.

Just installed a new master brake cylinder and while bleeding the brakes found out I need to get my hands on some front sway bar end links.

Posted a thread in the classifieds on th forums in parts. If you have any extra that would be awesome.

Oh, and new calipers. The guy broke the bleed screws on both of the front brakes. Man, I'm really glad I got a hold of this car before the previous owner could do more damage!

Congrats. My 1st concern would be corrosion. Need to seal that stuff up fast.

DO NOT let water keep getting into that trunk hole. Put some gorilla tape on it.
